I have a Canon R6MII and as soon as I downloaded it, camera was already plugged in, it immediately popped up with my shutter count. Didn't even need to open the app manually! Definitely glad that I tried this one before the $10 one, because I don't really *need* all the bells and whistles since I just bought this camera last year - great app for those that are just curious!February 10, 2025
The program works well for 5d Markiii but as the developer noted not with newer cameras. I also have two other shutter count apps and they do not work with newer Canon cameras either. This program works as well as the other two programs and is very functional. I had trouble getting the program to work at first. I contacted the developer and the problem was solved and the app works great.Good app
As has been stated repeatedly, this app will not work with newer models but works just fine with older ones. The developer is very upfront about compatibilty issues. Beyond that, this was such a great and easy app to use. So many other apps and programs try to make it complicated. This one gets the job done with no hassle. 100% worth it!
Just bought a Canon DSLR off eBay where seller didn't list shutter count. I paid in the neighborhood where if shutter count was listed, it was over 60,000. Low shutter count versions have been selling for at least $100 over what I paid. Pleasantly surprised to use this app and find out my camera only has 4,200 shutter actuations.
Thought I'd post this as a PSA, given older reports that this app doesn't work for certain bodies. At least in my case, it read my 5D Mark III and R6 Mark II bodies with no issues. Two bodies of each model, four cameras total, to be clear. Pulled all counts right up. Running a 2020 M1 Mac Mini with Ventura v13.6.7. Today is June 11, 2024.
ALL I wanted was the shutter count on my 5DS. I don't want mirror count or any other information that some of the other (MUCH more expensive) apps offer. Shutter Counter delivered exactly what I wanted, and did so for $0.99 -- a total bargain. Highly recommended!
I don't remember if this app cost any money or not, but it worked perfectly and the developer cares enough to update it frequently with bug fixes and support for new cameras! Great app, worth the $1 if it costs money.
Bough the app, launched it, plugged in my 7D, and the shutter count was immediately displayed. So simple. I wish Canon included the count in the camera info -- even better, in the exif data -- but it's not hard to spend a buck to get it.
Just downloaded the app. Price was right. You do need to plug your camera into a computer for the app to read it. Once I had my camera plugged in, the app worked instantly.
Worked immediately for 2 of my 7D Mark II cameras. Just make sure you take the memory cards out, connect the camera to computer and turn camera on. Super simple and best $0.99 I have spent in a while!
I tried several of the free apps out there and my macbook pro rejected them, so I spent the big bucks (.99 cents) for something from the Apple Store. Glad I did! Works fast and easy and was compatable with both the 7d and 5diii.
Worked as advertised. Plugged in my cable that came in the box with the camera body and viola I had my serial number and shutter count in 3 seconds.I recommend this APPlication.
