Description

Sierra Bullets Reloading Manual V6.0 of Rifle and Handgun Reloading Data.

The development of this reloading manual app has brought exciting, new changes. Many new Sierra bullets have been added, with new cartridge types and powders. Sierra built its own Pressure Testing Lab to quantify the new loading data found within the app.

App features include:
Reloading powder weight calculator for all the cartridges found in Sierra Bullet's paper manual.
History about most included cartridges.
Bullet details for all of Sierra Bullet's current and many older bullets.
Exterior Ballistic paper.
Technical contact information.
Answers to Frequently asked questions about reloading.
Firearm care and maintenance information.
Ability to view in dark or light mode for easy reading.

The free version has a reduced amount of data so users may see a sample of how the program operates. A subscription in-app purchase includes more text for key sections of the app including The Bullets section, The Reloading Section, and the Ballistics section.
The most important feature a subscription adds is the full set of current cartridge data for hundreds of cartridges.

Sierra Bullets LLC is constantly adding more data as new bullets are developed, the app will be updated as new data is available. Sierra Bullets has been producing hard cover manuals for over 50 years but using an app allows more functionality for the user.

Two subscriptions required

Unlike some of the other reviewers, I do not find fault with the user interface nor do I think the information is inaccurate.

I do, however, take exception to the fact that two subscriptions are required if you want to run the app on both your iPhone and your iPad. Apple went to great lengths to make sure users could not “cheat” when purchasing apps or subscriptions. When both the iPhone and iPad are assigned to the same account, one subscription should work for both. It’s like having to buy a second reloading manual for your garage because your bedroom manual won’t work there.

I remain a fan of Sierra’s bullets and of their reloading data and I own both versions V & version VI paper manuals. I just wish they’d thought their subscription policy through a little better.

Looks like a good data source, but embarrassingly clunky spp

I just downloaded this, hoping for an easy way to avoid paying $35+ for data updates on the half dozen cartridges that interest me. I haven’t yet compared the data to that in my Ver. 5 manual (it better be different), but the app feels like it was developed by an intern. If I select a cartridge and load, then turn my phone from portrait to landscape, I have to go through the selection process all over (resets to first load in the database). Instead of presenting the data in tabular form (like a manual), they use a little slider on the bottom to vary the load/velocity value. Of course, if you move a bit when going this, you’ll revert back to the default. I guess Sierra knows bullets and not app development, but please go hire someone who both develops apps professionally and also hand loads. This just isn’t good enough.

And it would be nice to have something I could use on my Windows computer...

Lots of Great Information, App Needs Field Locking

I don’t even remember downloading this app, so what a disappointment to find I had this much data on hand and wasn’t using it!

I don’t have a chrony, so I don’t have a lot of information as to the approximate velocity of my loads. Additionally, the bullet detail helps me to identify which powders I own have worked in the caliber I want to try.

My one criticism is the app doesn’t lock on your selection. If the screen times out, or you close the app for any reason, re-entering the app requires that you re-select EVERYTHING. It’s a total reset. I hope that the next version update will lock the selection to enable a quick return to the load you’re working up. I have a bookmark feature in my loading manuals...I should have the same option in a paid subscription app.
