Description
Simmons Drums 2 brings iOS control to Simmons electronic drum kits. The app provides a wider display of drum module settings to help you select kits, choose new sounds and effects, change the mix, adjust trigger settings and more. The play-along tool plays music from your library or Apple Music, slowing down or looping sections so you can learn new beats. Additional learning tools include a metronome and control over the Titan-series Practice tool.
Compatible with Simmons Titan 70, Titan 50, Titan 20, SD200, SD300, SD350, SD500, SD550, and SD600 drum modules.
What’s New
Version 2.4
The app now supports the Titan Jazz-Fusion Pack as well previous Simmons models including the SD200, SD300, SD350, SD500, SD550, and SD600.
Ratings and Reviews
It’s a good app with a major missing feature
The app is great and it works really well with the Titan 70 set. I assume it works just as well with the 50 but I don’t have one to verify.
The biggest miss in in the “Play Along” feature. You search for a song and you can play anything in your Apple Music (you have to pay monthly if you don’t wanna buy songs, I get Apple Music included with my phone plan) but it doesn’t remember recently played songs. There is a whole blank page there under the search bar that they could totally included “Recently Played Track” and it would really take the app to the next level. Or let me favorite songs like Songster does. The search is clunky and either of these features would take this app to 5 stars.
I can’t find anything else I wish it had, other than uploading your own sounds to the kits, but I think that’s a limitation of the Titan 70 and not really app side.
It’s good but there’s room to improve
Overall the app is decent, but my main issue I have with this app is the playback. I can’t access my personal Apple Music library, which is quite annoying because I have playlists made for practice. And the audio doesn’t come through my headphones that are plugged into the drum module it comes out of the phone. What’s the point of a Bluetooth connection if it’s gonna do that? I love what the app is trying to do but that playback section completely misses the mark and it was the main reason I bought a Simmons drumset
Missing a few features that the module has.
Access to the 2 EXP input triggers would be a game changer, and should have been a default feature.
Ability to upload new sounds from the app would be all kinds of cool!
Otherwise it’s a good kit for the money.
Only real complaint on the kit would be inability to use a virtual hi-hat controller. That’s a life-changer!
