I've tried pretty much every contacts app out there... you name it, I've tried it. Contacts Sync Pro is the only option I've found that actually works. Not only is the app awesome, the team is great as well. I was having an issue (not the app's fault) where the contacts app on my desktop computer was out of sync with the rest of my devices. The team went above and beyond to troubleshoot the issue with me and, after several attempts, we finally got it figured out - now my iCloud and Google contacts stay in sync across my Macbook, iPad and iPhone AUTOMATICALLY. I couldn't be more pleased with the experience.

Keeping my contacts in sync across all my devices used to be a pain; contacts were sometimes dropped. Contacts Sync Pro (CSP) resolved this issue. -> I use my Google account as my main contact repository. -> Now, I can enter contacts from any device using its native contact manager and get them all synced via CSP. -> I recommend installing CSP to only one device and running the sync from that device (in my case, the iPad). CSP will find all contacts entered via Apple’s contact manager and sync them to Google and vice-versa. Any conflicts are clearly identified with choices on how to resolve them.

Have been using since late 2015, and it has worked flawlessly and been steadily improved over the years, including backups and letting you easily review changes before making changes. Five stars for sure. However, the comparison continues to be cumbersome; it needs to be side-by-side. Right now, you can look at one OR the other contact “card”. I use it to manually sync because I like to see what it is going to change before it does so.
