Ratings and Reviews
Great resource but the app has problems
I love sketchy, and it has helped me so much this year in medical school. Great way to remember things when you’re literally tasked with remembering everything (and my favorite part is that it doesn’t even feel like studying). However, the app has some software/technical issues. I think it’s because the app is still a relatively new way to use Sketchy. For example, lately, when I try to make the videos full screen and turn my phone horizontally so it fills the entire display, the app crashes. It completely closes out and brings me to my Home Screen of my iPhone. BUT, I have found sketchy so useful, and it’s been great to be able to watch the videos wherever I am at. Im sure these bugs will be fixed as the app undergoes updates and improvements.
Medical school lifesaver!!!
I have been using Sketchy primarily to learn microbiology and pharmacology, and it has been massively helpful. The app excels in transforming complex medical concepts into engaging, memorable visual stories. This approach has significantly reduced the time I need to learn and recall the content, making my study sessions more efficient and enjoyable.
Pros:
1. Visual Learning: Sketchy's use of vivid imagery and storylines makes it easier to remember intricate details (dual coding)The visual mnemonics are highly effective for long-term retention.
2. Comprehensive Content: The app covers a wide range of topics (i highly recommend microbiology and pharmacology) ensuring that I have all the necessary information.
3. Time Efficiency: turned dense material into digestible content which cut down my study time while increasing retention.
4.Quizzes: The quizzes and review questions help reinforce what I've learned, providing immediate feedback and identifying areas that need more focus. I believe this has been added recently but there is a comprehensive quiz after finishing the whole section.
Cons:
1. Price: The subscription cost is expensive not going to lie. But I think it is a good investment that every M1 should make!!
Overall, Sketchy is a game-changer for anyone looking to master microbiology and pharmacology efficiently. Its innovative approach to learning has made a significant impact on my studies, and I highly recommend it.
Great resource made convenient
The desktop version of Sketchy is fantastic, so I was excited to hear about them coming out with an app. Second year of med school is tough and I’m always busy, so having the app is really helpful and convenient when I’m away from my laptop or I just need to refresh myself on the symbols. I’m also planning on using the app for rotations to prepare myself before entering a patient room or before getting pimped lol. Sketchy’s made a bunch of new improvements and keep continuing to upgrade, so I’m lucky they made the app that also reflects these changes. I personally haven’t experienced any bugs so hopefully it stays that way. Honestly don’t know what I’d do without sketchy. Bugs and drugs would’ve been awful
