See something that sparks an idea? Use Skitch to snap it, mark it up, and send it on in an instant. Your bold ideas stand out even brighter with Skitch.
People everywhere use Skitch to help them visually share their thoughts with others. Here are a few ways you can use it, too:
Mark up photos of silly, cool, or inspiring things you see and share them via social, email, SMS, and more.
Annotate photos of your backyard to plan out your vegetable garden.
Share a diagram of the earth’s layers and have students label it with you
Capture a map, mark it up, and share it with your friends to show them where you'll be.
Open a PDF and highlight changes to skip the lengthy, confusing email chains and give clear feedback.
Skitch’s PDF Markup feature requires an Evernote Premium account.
An Evernote account is required to save to Evernote. All other capturing, mark up and saving and sharing functions are free and do not require an Evernote account.
You can now sign in to Skitch using your Evernote Business credentials. Your annotations will then be synced with your Evernote account.

Is it going away… or not?
I love this application for its simplicity and functionality.
Specifically, the ability to take a screen shot of an area of the screen and then hit a key combination to take another shot of THE SAME AREA. This is a huge timesaver for documentation purposes. Once I have my same-sized screenshots of a specific area, I can annotate them and write the instructions and everything looks nice and clean.
It does become rather sluggish and seems a bit buggy when you have nearly a thousand items in the Evernote notebook that Skitch is attached to, so I would like the abiity to limit the number of items that Skitch displays. Maybe that would speed it up a bit?
Feature request? “Focus” tool to dim surrounding
I use Skitch all the time. My favorite tool is Command+Shift+C to copy and share into another app. I have no idea where to make a feature request as all of the forums on Evernote are, well, for Evernote. Here goes. I would be cool to have a tool that lets you select a section of a screenshot and dims the area not included in the select. Kind of like what you see when you use the crop tool except leave the selected area at full color and the non-selected area dimmed. If there’s a better place to make this request, please let us know. Also, this red—phew. Need to stare at something green now for 5 mins ;-)
Alas poor Skitch, I knew ye well...
This was one of the great apps... and so was Evernote, at one time... but alas, first Evernote went sour for me when it started up that subscription plan (then relentlessly asked me to embrace it -- good god, how many monthly subscriptions do these app developers think we can stand? I'd rather pay more up front...) and then the infection spread to Skitch. Yes, it's still great when it works. Trouble is, it now crashes or freezes about half the time. I don't know, maybe it's something local to my system. But I doubt it. The updates just haven't come and maybe they never will. So I've bitten the bullet and shelled out top dollar for Snagit instead. So far, it seems... well... way better. But I would have gladly paid, say, $9 or so for a more reliable Skitch update.
