The game takes place in the early years of the war , from the battle for France to the battle of Britain. 4 nations will be playable : Germany, France, England, and Italy. You can fly different aircraft , including legends such as the Spitfire, Hurricane, B.P. Defiant, Bf 109, Bf 110 Ju 87 , Ju 88 or He 111.

Multicrew makes it possible to control each individual crewmember in your aircraft, you can even let the AI pilot and light up ennemies on your 6 with a rear gun !

Flight Model Fixes

To start, I don’t mean to drag the game down, I write this in good faith. I’ve had this game for, what I would guess, to be the better part of 6 to 8 months. With the most recent major update, flight models were changed and for some the better, and others for worse. Most flight models are good and feel realistic, but the D520 is borderline unusable in an actual dogfight. This is furthered by the fact that the game’s own AI sometimes has a hard time flying the D520 against me without wing stalling the plane. I, or the AI, shouldn’t be able to depart flight and stall going 300 in a 4G to 5G flat turn, and while it’s a hard turn, it shouldn’t be enough to depart flight. I do know that early war aircraft had difficult control characteristics, but like I said before, if the game itself has a hard time fighting me in the thing without killing itself by stalling, I think the flight model needs to be changed a bit to be more forgiving and usable, as opposed to me just having a skill issue. All things considered, the game’s fun and I’ve bought all the planes to support you and the game, and will continue to do so. I’ll give a 4 star rating for an otherwise 5 star game, just until all aircraft are competent in combat situations. Keep up the good work on the game!

Developer Response ,

Thank you !
Indeed the d.520 got some issues and I'm working on a fix for it.
I hope you'll be around when new content releases!

Amazing WWII aircraft game but would love a wider range of aircraft to choose from

First off, amazing game. Easily my go to when I need to pass time or I’m in the mood to fly. Love that you can make your own scenarios on top of completing the ones in the game. The only thing I wish we could do in the scenario aspect is maybe have a attacking mission where you need to try and shoot down enemy bombers while their fighters try to protect them. That would be pretty challenging and fun. I also understand that this is supposed to be during the beginning of the war, but I would love to see a wider variety aircraft to choose from. I would love to see a range of US aircraft to use. Like the P-40 Warhawk, the P-38 lightning, P-39 airacobra…and I could easily see a P51 Mustang being just as popular as the Spitfire in my opinion. Would also really enjoy flying the German FW 190 as well. Overall amazing game to pass time and enjoy flying in a true dogfight

An absolutely amazing game

As a War Thunder player, I was intrigued to try this game out. When I finally download Sky On Fire 1940, I was immediately impressed with the graphics and gameplay. The aircraft models are so incredibly good, I was shocked. Just the fact that there are so many aircraft to choose from and customize already made me want to give it a five star rating, but there’s even more great things about the game. The gunner system on bombers is even better than War Thunder in my opinion. The damage models and aircraft physics are crazy for a game on mobile(even though it’s on PC and VR, it’s still amazing). The Workshop DLC was so fun, that I decided to buy the other ones as well. Not only are they fair priced, they include fun and unique aircraft to fly. Overall an amazing game I would recommend to anyone who’s looking for a fun aircraft sim on mobile. I do have one suggestion however. The map size is already decent, but it does become kind of repetitive. Maybe adding a small portion of France with some new airfields would make the game feel a bit more explorable. Can’t wait to see if more comes out of this masterpiece.
