Reliable

I’ve been very pleased with these stations and their ease of use and reliability. As someone who has had issues with other stations in the past, almost to the point of frustration with EV all together, using the Skycharger stations has been a refreshing change. This is the best experience I have had to date with charging stations and has given me more confidence in my EV ownership.

I didn’t sign up to be hustled

I go to the Hilton in Latham, NY. They have two level 2 Skychargers. I don’t mind level 2 charging at this point because I’m spending the night. The ID number is slightly peeled on the charger I parked in front of so you can’t see the last digit, and the other one is mislabeled. I figure it out with some doing.

However, it says after my car is finished charging in the middle of the night plus a 30 minute grace period, they’re applying a $3 an hour charge if my car stays connected and doesn’t move. I want to get back to that screen to see if there are exceptions after I start charging but I can’t get it to appear again. I find out from the reviews that yep, they really do that. One person paid $15.

Bro, you’re really going to tell me that I’ve got to get up at 3AM or 5AM or whatever ridiculous time to move my car while I’m traveling? But I did it and I am not happy.

When the car is finished charging, fortunately my car app notifies me. I only get a notification/text from the Skycharger app *after* I disconnect the charger, not when it’s done charging. Had my car app not notified me, I wouldn’t know when charging was completed.

I don’t care if it’s Hilton’s policy or if there’s some other nonsense. This is an affront to EV drivers who just want to sleep. Sort it.
