I just needed an app that gives me accurate distance. That’s it. No subscription, no useless condescending features, just two bucks, one time, gets you a useful app that doesn’t drain your phone’s battery. I already know how to play golf, i.e., choose clubs, read greens, and keep score, etc. Who wants to pay 50 bucks or more for the privilege of receiving more spam email, crowing to others (who could care less) about scores, reading greens on which the player is actually standing, telling the player which club to use, and calculating an unusable handicap? Thank you, this app is just what I needed.

What a great app. I've been looking for a good golf app that can help me on the course. This is truly a gem of an app! For only $2, you wouldn't expect very much. However, I was able to find the courses that I wanted to play this past weekend. One was a city course and the other was a country club. Both were available for download. There are no additional costs to download courses. Not only will this app give you an overview of each hole you play, but it will also track your drives or any other shot for what you wish to know how far you hit the ball. Once you get to your ball, it is highly accurate to the front middle and back of the green. It also shows you yardage to each bunker or hazard, which is very useful off the tee or for your approach shot. It is almost like a golf video game in the palm of your hand, except you still have to execute the shot yourself and not with a game controller. I played on Sunday with a friend who has a Bushnell yardage finder, and it was as accurate as this app. I couldn't believe it! Kudos to the developers! Don't delay, get this app right now! You will not be disappointed.

Met a guy on my course walking a quick 9 after work. Our course has laser range finders on the carts, so I haven't had a great urge to spend $300 for a Skycaddie. But when I walk or play a different course, I wish I had one. So I tried 3 other iPhone apps; all drained my battery, and all were cumbersome enough to use that I found it distracted from my round. So when I saw this guy using his iPhone for distances, I needled him: haha, your battery is probably fried by now after 5 holes. He said nope, it'll last the whole round and then some - told me to download SkyDroid right then. I did. It took maybe a minute over 3G. By the next hole I was completely sold. This app is fast, simple, accurate, and doesn't drain your battery. It automatically advances to the next hole, even I'd you don't use it for an entire hole. It's always at the right place. If you golf and have a iPhone, get this app, and delete all your other range finder apps.

The best money I've spent for golf. The app works extremely well, even better than someone I'm playing with using a rangefinder. I don't know where the bad reviews come from but I guess it depends on the person. It works fantastically in the NJ/PA area. But I've taken in all over and never a problem. Also works on private courses. My only recommendation is to hibernate your phone in between shots. If you leave it on and the app the whole time it kills your battery. But if you hibernate it there is no problem. Because of this app, your will never have to buy a gps watch, range finder or gold gps. It app is a financial no brainer because the fact that you can see a satellite view of what is a head of you on any hole and how far out the hazard is allows for smarter play. Can't do that with a range finder or a golf watch. Maybe worth a range finder but they're like $250.

This is only as accurate as the maps that are in the system. I noticed that on one course the X's on the greens were not accurately placed, so everyone who uses the map will be a little off. I think this is partly because the maps are created by users, some of whom are more careful than others. I created a map of my course. So if you know the course, you should check the map first, to, for example, make the center mark on the green is actually in the center. If it isn't, it is fairly easy to get access to the map and correct it. You need to do this before you go to the course because the editing has to be done on a large screen of the desktop in order to be accurate. You can fairly freely edit the maps. Make sure you get the largest image you can for placement of the marks. Great program...

I was kinda skeptical about the app after reading some of the reviews on it discussing the delays in yardages and some courses not being mapped. I figured it's just 2 bucks, why not? Tried it with my foursome. It was side by side with a skycaddie, golf logix, and a Garmin device. If the app was not giving identical yardages, it was 1 yard off from the others. But, for hundreds of dollars less. I've tried other apps that needed my phone to be at 100% battery life at the 1st tee just to have it drain my battery by the 15th fairway. Not with sky droid. Started with 95% and finished with 60%. Outstanding! Don't waste your time and money with the others. As far as the delay goes, it was no different from the other 3 devices. In fact, the skycaddie didn't even get started until the 2nd hole. Go get this one.
