Insomnia and Relief
I have had insomnia since I was very little and before that I was a restless sleeper. After trying several various things to get me to sleep I came upon SleepGenius back when it was still available as free for a trial run. Immediately falling in love with it and noticing direct improvement once I adjusted to the noise. I purchased said app and found one of the extra tracks helped me sleep better than the trial one.
Giving this four stars instead of five because they no longer allow a trial run or even a small trial period - say a month - and as a result when I recommend it to people they are often unwilling to purchase and waste money in case they don’t like it. Additionally, there was an update ages back that tracked your sleep pattern and asked questions and such that has since been removed. I found that I liked being able to track my sleep quality within the app and wish that it was still available.
Over a year as a paying customer and not happy with my purchase
This app is very disappointing. I wish I had never paid for it. In over a year they have not added any new tracks or even the ability to control the music volume independently of the background noise. The music starts out quietly and relaxing but seems to get louder with higher “tinny” tones after you fall asleep which then wakes you up. The help/feed back no longer works and gives you a “network connection error” When it did work numerous times I suggested that they allow the users to control the volumes separately. Never once have I gotten a response. If you look through the reviews as I have there are no developer responses to any reviews. I did give two stars because the app is good in concept as in it starts out relaxing, but even on the lowest timer it ends up waking me up and becomes annoying to the point of having to shut the app off and struggle myself back to sleep. Yes I have tried all four tracks and they all seem to have the same annoying high pitched tones.
Love this alarm :)
Such a nicer way to wake up! I prefer the sunset alarm, it works the best (I rarely sleep through it- to be fair, I have narcolepsy and can sleep through most alarms).
There are two bugs that are driving me nuts in recent months- one- on preset alarms, I have to keep changing it back to sunset alarm every bloody time. Minor annoyance.
Much bigger annoyance is when I turn off an alarm a little early, it doesn’t know I turned off the alarm and it still goes off. Even if I turn it off, and open and close the app. Which is very annoying as I have to wake up in the middle of the night to take a second dose of my narcolepsy med and if I wake up naturally before the alarm and take my second dose, most of the time the alarm still goes off despite turning it off and it wakes me up again. So I’d really appreciate those two relatively new issues being fixed. They most definitely did not use to happen.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
