Privacy-loving, one-time paying, feature-packed
I literally sought THE ONE SLEEPING APP that would not charge me rent for having it work on my phone. I paid for Sleep Meister and it was worth it.
Thanks, app developers, for not using a subscription model.
I also was pleasantly pleased to find that my data remains private. Their terms of service are simple. THANK YOU, DEVELOPERS, FOR A SIMPLE TOS.
Apart from those answers to the fundamental question “How does this app work?”, there’s the classic “What does this app do?” I like many things of this app. I can record my sleep talk, I can change the sensitivity with which recordings start, I can learn my sleep onset latency (super useful to calculate sleep schedules), I can choose to sleep for 8 hours or to wake up at a given time, and most importantly, I can see a personal hypnogram and I can wake up at the best time possible based on that!
This small app studio created software that works well. It also does its work ethically.
Daylight savings bug
Just observed bug today: alarm does not sound during transition to daylight savings time. I had alarm set to "time selection". The alarm was set to 6 AM. It did not go off. Thankfully I had a real alarm clock set as a backup. I wonder if this would have gone of an hour late (7 am).
Also: feature request - Please add ability in your app to manually adjust entries. I know the "sleep onset time" is wrong sometimes. Sensor wrongly believed it took a long time for me to fall asleep. It is rare, but does happen. That error affects Apple Health stats.
There are plenty of apps in this category, and I've tried most of them. This app has a combination of features found nowhere else. The backup alarm is clever and important. The audio recording is a great feature too. I appreciate the latest new feature of visualizing the recorded audio.
Great sleep alarm
I love the options on this alarm to find my right time to wake up after x hours of sleep. It takes the guesswork out of trying to find the best time. It appears that the algorithm uses to calculate sleep quality is very accurate. Unlike some other sleep cycle alarms I’ve used in the past, the scores here usually are a correct assessment of how I feel, not just how many hours I stayed in bed.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
