App needs work

This app does control my recirculation pump in conjunction with inputs from the sensors attached to my water heater. I was very happy to find a programmable controller to replace the simple programmable timer I had been using with my previous water heater. This app in conjunction with the Smart Recirculation Control give more parameters of control than just time. It does perform basically as indicated, but I’m going to comment on the problems I’m having.
The most glaring deficiency is the lack of a front end on the application. There is nothing to indicate the the system is working. The only way you can know is if the pump is actually running is by touching or listening to it, but there is no way to know if it is running because of the timer, or the flow sensor. You also don’t know from the app if the pump is on, the temperature the probes are sensing, or the flow the the flow meter is measuring.
Just today I couldn’t get the pump to kick on by opening a faucet in the line, and there’s no way to know the flow sensor is working, and while checking the app the Advanced Settings were off, and I couldn’t get the Advanced Settings to stay on. And there is no manual control, you can’t just turn the pump on if you want to, or turn it off if you’re going on vacation.
So, a good start, but needs some work.

Hello Silly Robot 42,
This may be a function of the version of hardware which you own. The latest version of the hardware, Smart Recirculation Control 3, has a "Live Data" feature which displays the temperature sensor values, the flow meter value and whether the pump is running and if a timer is active. If a timer is active and the pump it running, it is due to the timer. If a timer is not active and the pump it running, it is due to flow that was detected in the line. Also, the later versions of the firmware have a setting that allows you to disable the the timer for when you go away on vacation and is available on all versions of the hardware. And as of Firmware 2.0.5 (Smart Recirculation Control 3 only) we have implemented "Smart Timers" that automatically disable if the controller doesn't detect flow within a 24 hours period and re-enable as soon as flow is detected or the controller is connected to via the smart phone app.

So depending on your version of hardware you may or may not have some of these capabilities. You can contact our company via our web site and we can determine what hardware version you have and what firmware it is capable of running.

Works reliably. Lots of possibilities for improvement.

Works over Bluetooth to configure and monitor the Smart Recirc pump controller.
Would be nice to have some additional controls and integration with a Bluetooth- WiFi bridge which could allow integration with smart home tools.
Suggestions for development: graphical presentation of log data. Download log data. Integration with Apple and Google
IOT tools, manual activation of pump from app.
