Bugs and typos
Like most things from think eco, I feel similarly that this isn't supremely well thought-out.
There's a strange annoying bug when trying to edit the pet mode temperatures--the circular slider doesn't work above about 78 deg. This only occurs when editing the pet mode temperatures of a device, not when changing the current temperature.
Side bar: I'm still not sure why the thermostat remotes have to connect first before allowing you to change the temperature instead of just allowing you to change the temperature and then at the next connection, send the new temp.
The weekly "savings" compares last week's total with the new week's total even though the new week is only a day in, and it presents this as a pat on the back for great savings. Those comparisons are literally MEANINGLESS. It should be telling you your usage/spending PER DAY, averaged from one week to the next and if you are "on track" for savings this week or month. This is also a problem on the website.
Lastly, the graph in the app has the "current week" and "previous week" labeled incorrectly. They should be flipped.
I love the idea of this app and so so so want to use it and save money and save energy and cooperate with Con Ed to protect NYCs power grid during the blazing summer months. However, the process of setting up a schedule for my ac is SO confusing and unintuitive that I literally can’t figure it out. I can’t understand why you would choose to not separate day and time. You have to scroll through every hour of every day for the entire week to set a time. That is literally THE MOST FRUSTRATING THING I have ever experienced on mobile app. Scheduling patterns have been a thing in apps for a decade now, did you think this was a better way to do it? If I had to sit down and design a way to literally stop people from using an app this would be better than anything I can think of.
Also, requiring me to use on/off pairs is also so counter intuitive and not at all the way I think about my air conditioner.
The sad outcome of this disastrous user experience is that my energy consumption has INCREASED since installing this system! It was better when I could just control it manually but now the plug controls it and I can’t control the plug.
Please hire a UX researcher to figure out a better way to schedule things.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
Glitch won't let me schedule on/off times
There is a major glitch when you go to schedule times for your ac to be on/off so you don't have to manually adjust. When you enter "add time range" and go to choose the paired schedule times, you first choose the start time, which prompts the app to automatically choose an end time 15 min later, which prompts a warning explaining you cannot schedule paired times within 15 min, and when you hit "ok" it takes you back to choose a start time. The endless cycle won't let you schedule anything and you're back at square one. Can someone please fix this?
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
