The SmartMouth App is an interactive public speaking tool that simplifies speechwriting and presentation prep. The app provides an in-depth “how to” discourse that breaks down the parts of a speech, as well as an easy-to-use speechwriting template with step-by-step prompts. The app was designed to help anyone who needs to get up in front of a group and talk. It helps create speeches and presentations that are easy for the speaker to deliver and easy for the audience to follow (which, most would agree, is a true innovation!). It is also helpful to anyone preparing for leading or contributing to a meeting.
The app leverages technology to bring SmartMouth’s proprietary public speaking methodology to more people than SmartMouth, or any consultancy, could possibly reach through its coaching and training practice. In addition to the “How To” content that walks users through the parts of a speech, this app also offers “Journal” entry space for notes to self, which might include a personal introduction, ideas for future topics, observations of other speakers, or stories and anecdotes. The big functionality attraction is the speechwriting tool. In the "Speeches" section, users follow prompts to create a detailed outline for a speech or presentation. Once the outline is created in the app, it can be saved (archived for future reference), duplicated (and adapted for another talk), and/or emailed (so the user can work on it or add visuals from their desktop or laptop). There is space to store feedback – e.g. what worked and what didn't work – for each speech or presentation.
This app is available for iPhone and iPad.

I write a lot of speeches and was looking for an app to help me when I get stuck. This app is a good start to get you thinking in the right direction. There are some things I wish the developer would add to make it better. For example: The speech writing tips should be easily accessible from where you input your content, You should have the ability to make bullet points within the program, and you should be able to use the app as a prompter while giving a speech. Overall, I would recommend this app to start learning how to right speeches or when in a crunch.
Great content and interface, but compatibility issues with iOS 10.2
On both my iPhone 6s and iPad Pro running iOS 10.2, the first thing I saw when opening the app was a System message warning that the app may signficantly slow down my device and needs to be updated by the developer. Since like the typical person I'm risk-seeking in the domain of losses, I went ahead and still played around with the app for 15 minutes. I definitely liked what I saw but feel that, in order for me to commit to using it, I feel the developer really needs to address whatever it is that is causing that compatibility warning (which I've never seen before). So, I will await an update, either from the developer or from Apple, that allows me to rest assured I'm not doing unknown harm to my devices.
The 3 stars is the average of 5 (for great content and interface) and 1 (for incompatibility issues with latest iOS). When the latter is addressed, I will update my rating to the glorious 5-star status.
Stay prepared while on the run
This app is fantastic. I have a tendency to over commit myself and don't always set aside the time I should to prepare for my presentations and big pitches. SmartMouth gives me the flexibility to jot down notes, brainstorm ideas, and prepare for presentations on the go, and as ideas come to me. It is a huge help in keeping me organized and prepared. Highly recommended.
