Do I need to pay?
No! You can turn all your plants “Smart” for FREE, and use our plant library for FREE too! Connecting to experts is a premium feature, but we even give you freebies to get started and monthly ones as well so you can connect to the experts for identifications and chats.
Price may vary by location. Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period. Account will be charged for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period, and identify the cost of the renewal. Payment will be charged to iTunes Account at confirmation of purchase. You will not be able to cancel the subscription once activated. Subscriptions may be managed, and auto-renewal may be turned off, by going to the Account Settings after purchase. Any unused portion of a free trial period will be forfeited when the user purchases a subscription to that publication.
Fixes a bug that was preventing in-app purchases from restoring to fresh installs of the app.
Also adds a restore button in the app's settings to enable a manual restore.
Ratings and Reviews
I really love the idea of this app and want the best for it, it’s just not there yet. The messaging function with experts is particularly frustrating when it cuts you off after around 110 characters. How the heck are you supposed to explain the details of your plant problem and care in that few of characters? Why am I paying to be cut off? Also, when clicking on the chat section which pulls up the list of plants and those chats for them, when you click on a chat for a plant it takes you to the general plants info page. And then on the page you click the expert chat and it takes you to the message. So counter intuitive. It’s a great idea, I want it to be good, it’s just not done very well yet.

Smart plant expert?
I signed up because I read an article about how you could submit a picture of a plant and experts could let you know what type of plant it was. This was the selling point for me because I have been gifted cuttings of plants and I wanted to know what they were. After signing up, I realized that instead of being able to submit all of my pictures, each time you submit one for review it costs you a credit. If I sign up for the unlimited package and pay monthly it would be unlimited. I decided to try out the service before switching to a monthly subscription. You get 2 credits for signing up for the free account and 1 a month after. Well, uploaded my first picture of a cactus becuse I wanted to know exactly what type it was and the expert told me it was a cactus. Thanks expert, I wasted a credit for you to tell me the most basic information. I might use my extra credit but the more I think about it the more annoyed I get. I definitely will not be signing up for a paid subscription. I already tried to delete my account after seeing that basic response, I figured if the experts are going to be unhelpful I’ll try a different app. The developers make it extremely difficult to delete your account. I expected more, especially from something that was reviewed my Martha Stewart Living.
I have not ever shopped at Orchard before but my wife and I went in the past weekend and looked around. We went into their garden part which we saw the sign for this app and downloaded it and then took a pic of the barcode. Amazingly the plant and all the care came up. So we went ahead and bought the plant. We thought that was pretty cool but when we got home we went ahead and loaded more plants around the house and garden since from this store it gave us a free year membership. We even used the submit feature and within a short time the plant was identified and amazingly again our expert gave us great advice. Seriously?....I am not sure who invented this app but brilliant indeed. We are looking forward to seeing how well the care reminder system works ....thank you smart plant. A job well done.
