Track temperatures from Signals, BlueDOT, and Smoke Gateway on your smart device.
BlueDOT utilizes your smart devices' Bluetooth to receive information with a communication range up to 95-feet line-of-sight. You can connect up to 6 BlueDOT devices to ThermoWorks BBQ app to set alarms, track min/max, and collect graph data.
Smoke Gateway connects to the internet via Wi-Fi to transmit and store information in the cloud. This allows ThermoWorks BBQ app to review your temperatures, receive alerts, and view graph data from anywhere.
Signals uses both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, which allows for easy setup and different modes of connecting to Signals, so you can track your cook in any situation. Bluetooth allows you to connect directly to your phone or tablet, up to 95-feet line-of-sight, so you can use Signals if there is no internet connection. Wi-Fi allows you to track your cook through the internet and cloud from anywhere. Signals switches automatically between the two to give you the best experience.
You can connect multiple Signals, Smoke Gateway, and BlueDOT devices to ThermoWorks BBQ app simultaneously, giving you an overall dashboard of your temperatures.

Graphs are horrible
I really love ThermoWorks products. I have a Smoke, a BlueDot and i just got a Signal with the Billows fan for my birthday. I have not used the Billiws yet but was excited to use the Signal and Dot for the graphing ability. My friends have FireBoards and tried to convince me to go that way and they almost had me until the Billows came out. I hate to say I regret my choice. Not because of the hardware but the software. The graphs that their FireBoards put out look professional and very user friendly. The ThermoWorks graphs look like some high school kid wrote the inputs and outputs in Excel. So disappointed.
Needs a few more improvements
First, I would like to say that the Signals and Billows units are amazing. Having gone through a few BBQ thermos from other companies, I have now been a loyal ThermoWorks customer for many years. This is my 3rd ThermoWorks product. These guys make excellent thermos. They are not app designers and this area needs some help.
The first thing I’d like to see is how the app sends alerts. It should be treated like an alarm and not a notification. Alarms alert you and notifications get silenced in certain situations. Especially at night if your phone is set to not disturb you after certain hours. I’m an owner of an old Smoke unit and this thing was loud and proud. I need that at 3am and my pit temp is dropping. Even with my phone set at the highest volume and the loudest tone, it didn’t wake me up last night.
Next, we need timers, alarms and notes. As a true BBQ nerd I like to put notes on my cooks. Ideally it would save with the graphs. Wood used, techniques, etc. this would a great feature. It would also be really cool if it pulled weather data from your phone and logged that info too. This is all very important to folks that take their BBQ seriously. Timers and alarms are also an essential tool. It’d be great if you guys built a digital Timestick into the app.
This is a seriously terrible application!
I’ve spent a lot of money to have the functionality that the Signals and Billows unit will provide. This has been nothing but an exercise in frustration , wasted time and wasted dollars.
Application consistently loses connections. Graphs are consistently lost, not auto-saved. I used it...as best as possible today. Monitor time was 3+ hours...it saved about the first 30 minutes.
When you open the app to check the status of temps, it takes a minimum of 10 minutes to establish any sort of connection and give you information. IF IT EVER DOES!
Billows unit temp today was set to 325, it stabilized at 357!!! I’m good with some variation, but not nearly 30 degrees. The unit is correctly installed using their adapter plates, and the top vent on my big green egg was open only the smallest sliver. (Width of a quarter at most)
You need to fix this application. There are a lot of very capable alternatives that work very well. I am absolutely embarrassed to tell people about this $300 paperweight and app combo.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
