SofaPlay allows you to play media files directly from your Mac on the tv. It connects your Mac to your Smart TV and takes care of the streaming. Just drag any movie file onto SofaPlay and it will appear instantly on the big screen in front of you. SofaPlay streams your video wirelessly to your TV.
No configuration needed, no hassle. Just drag and drop.
Your Mac is completely controlling and managing your TV and taking care of the streaming. Just lean back on your sofa, get some pop-corn and enjoy a movie, or two.
IMPORTANT: SofaPlay is working with devices, which are supporting the UPnP/DLNA Digital Media Renderer standard. Fortunately, most of the new TVs are working with SofaPlay. Also, there are a few supported Blu-Ray Players. If your device has a network connection (wireless or wired), there is a great chance it is supported.
Before you buy SofaPlay, please use this little app to check if your device is compatible: http://bit.ly/sofaplay-device-check You can also download the limited SofaPlay Lite in the Mac App Store for free to test your setup.

Ratings and Reviews
Worked for a while but keeps crashing
Very good concept and actually connected easily with my Hisense TV even though it wouldn’t show movie on my Sony. However, it just started crashing for no apparent reason. App needs improvement and resiliency.
If you want videos playing on your TV in minutes, get Sofaplay
It took me 5 minutes to zero in on this app by googling “stream videos from Mac to xbox”. Once you get to sofaplay’s website, they have a link that will take you into the app store, pony up the $4.99 and download /install it.
Over on your xbox one, check to see if you have XBox One Video App. Go into your apps section and look for an app that says "Movies & TV”. If you have it, search for it in the store and purchase it, then launch it. Stop there, it will come up with screen to try and get you t buy actual movies or shows, but don’t do anything. Just go back to your SofaPlay app and you will see that your app has already found the xbox and will show up in the bottom left corner of the UI.
Then you will see a dark gray box with an arrow pointing downward, What its trying to tell you is to drop video file from you MAC onto the grey arrow in the SofaSplay. The minute you drop it in there, it begans playig on your PC, No configuration, no myriad of things to configure or other sets, steps to do, simple as pie, I wish all sofware were this simple to set up. Once it is working, you can pause the move or skip around using the Xbox controller as you would have assumed. Perfect little pieceuf software that did exatly what I wanred to do with little to no effort. The entire process tokk less than 10 min. Highly reconneded for ease of us.
Love it
Just got the app yesterday and it works like a charm. Love the fact that I can use my computer normally while it plays the videos on the television without draining my battery to no end. Extremely easy to use and I highly recommend if you frequently use your computer for videos.
