Helping actors connect
Our theatre department bought several of these to pass out to our actors so they could have reliable internet for recording our shows in Zoom. For the most part, they’ve worked really well. One actor is having issues getting a video that doesn’t freeze or run behind the sound. It’s intermittent and we’ve been able to work around it. SkyRoam support has been really helpful and quick to reply. I have the hotspots linked to one account. This allows me to manage their data and keep them full of high speed. The app makes this super easy. Overall, very pleased with the full experience of the SkyRoam. It will make this year much easier.

I bought the Skyroam Solis X due to living in an area in the USA where I am not able to get internet service due to being in a bad spot. I get plenty of cell service, so that isn’t an issue.
When I first turned the Solis X on, the lights didn’t want to become static. The cell reception light even turned red. After using my cell data to look up the answer to this issue, I followed the instructions that asked me to go outside for better connectivity. The lights finally went static and I was able to connect my cellphone and computer. I found that Skyroam provides a single free day pass for new users to try out the service. I was thrilled!! It seemed like such a lovely thing for them to do. However, after activating the free day pass, I found the internet connection on my phone to be very slow, and on my computer to be spotty. Sometimes, internet browsing pages would be fine. Other times, they wouldn’t load due to an error despite having loaded before, and other times it would tell me I didn’t have internet service despite the Wi-Fi connection being full and steady on my computer.
Using my data for answers again, I found that it could be the connectivity of the day pass. I plan to try a GoData Monthly plan tomorrow and we’ll see. However, I am extremely unhappy with the start of this service.

It either works or it doesn’t!
Let me start off by saying how grateful I am that my school purchased this hotspot for me. I don’t have reliable WiFi or data in my area, so the school gave me some allocated funds to buy a hotspot. This one seemed like the best deal, and for $250 you’d think it would be. Well I ran out of monthly unlimited data (which the limit is another issue all together), and so I bought a day pass after canceling my unlimited subscription because I planned to upload some large files today. It worked great for the first 6 hours, but now they’re capping my data at .5 mbs even though I’m supposed to receive unlimited data for 24 hours. My crappy WiFi is better at that point! What’s annoying is that when I’m receiving the appropriate data, it’s great! Never been smoother. Just wish this bug would get worked out, especially considering I paid extra for a day pass.
