SolveigMM Video Splitter 4 4+

I can’t hear audio or see waveforms for mp4 files while splitting, but can hear it on exported files. Is there additionl software I need to hear it while splitting? Other than that it’s good.

I like SolveigMM video splitter for Windows and appreciate its lossless editing capability and supports for many media formats. That's why I bought this even with all the poor reviews. And I have to say that I am disappointed.

First, it only supports mp4/TS/m4a containers and some MOV files. AVI, MKV, WMV, and MP3 formats are not supported. Also gone is the support of external subtitles (the embedded subtitle is not supported by any version). The batch manager and the joint manager are missing but I believe those are only in the more expensive version and are not essential.

The other weak point is the lack of preferences settings. This is the only app I bought from the app store that doesn't have "Preferences...". But ridiculously it has a "Reset preferences" menu item. The essential one that is the missing of the ability to map hotkeys. Without it, I feel like I don't know how to use the app.

The Mac version retains much annoyance of the Windows versions. Like the marking, it uses the new one since v6 but I prefer the old one used in v5. The zooming steps are still bad. They are 5m, 1m, 30s, 15s, 5s, 1s, 50ms, 10ms, 1ms. The big 20x step between 1s and 50ms causes a lot of confusion and scrolling. I will suggest to change them to 5m, 2m, 1m, 30s, 10s, 5s, 2s, 1s, 0.5s, 0.2s, 0.1,s 50ms, 20ms, 10ms, 5ms. By doing this the difference between two zoom levels is always 2-3 times.

All in all, this is a disappointing product and I would rather use the windows version on Parallel Desktop than use this Mac version.

This software outputs really messed up video, flashing colors, failing to play. The editing interface is awkward and unintuitive. I wanted to like the program but I just can't. Contacting Apple fo request a refund and recommend they remove the product from the app store.
