Songwriter Pro: Lyrics + Songs 4+

Overall I like this app. It’s got a nice, aesthetically pleasing interface that is easy to use. It allows rearrangement of sections of the song, such as verses. It’s possible to group songs into folders (personally I use this for albums). I’ve found a lot of good use in it and plan on using it for a long time.
The only drawback that I see so far is a little bug that messes things up when I try to rearrange the order of songs within a folder. For example, if I move song 3 to the top of the list, and then open it, song 3 will not open; song 1 will (which was previously in the top position) even though I selected “song 3” from the list. And when I exit song 1, the list has returned to its previous order (with song 1 on top). Anyway, that’s not that big of a deal to me, but it is a little annoying. Other than that it’s been great for me.
The only other suggestion that I have is this: I wish there was a way to have the app automatically play back-to-back the audio from each section within a song - I don’t want to have to press play on verse two when chorus one ends, etc.

I use this as a starting point for a lot of my songwriting. I find it to work very well with my workflow and undistracting when writing (perfect). Some of the features in the ideas tab are nice to have, however not typically utilized by me - still well implemented.

The part where I switch off is when I want to layer multiple ideas on top of another. The app is awesome for sketching ideas and the "chunks" of a song, but when you want to begin to layer voices, instruments, etc. to get an idea of the embellishments you desire in a song, it loses its functionality. This is when I turn to another app where you can do all of these things. It would be nice to see some minor mixing/multitrack features implemented when most of the writing of your song is done and you want to enter the second phase of building.

This by no means has to be overly complicated, but it would greatly improve this app in my opinion. A lot of the apps that do have multitrack g/mixing are beginning to enter the realm of songwriting/structure building, like Trackd, and it may only be a matter of time before I make the ultimate switch away from this app if it doesn't continue to improve.

If the developers are reading this. Please...please at least just allow me to SCRUB audio takes so I don't have to listen to the full clip every time I need to hear it back!

First, the app is great for lyrics and songwriting...but that should always be obvious, given it’s nature. It has many useful tools incorporated to help you choose mood along with rhyming assistance. You can also capture the key, date of origin, composer info, all along with many other helpful subtleties that other apps do not offer.

Second, I had to contact their customer support over some issues I was experiencing (ended up truly being my own fault); however one of the owners contacted me directly and ensured that my concerns where not only managed...but heard. He took the time to show his empathy and realized (along with compassion) that my songwriting is used for my mental/emotional therapy. He didn’t have to. I’ll repeat that again...he didn’t have to. We live in a world with a lot of reoccurring dismissiveness. But he slowed down and cared. I’ll forever use their app. Mainly because of their character, and then subsequently the usefulness of the app.

That was an incredible review and a great reminder of why we created Songwriter Pro. It has been quite an adventure so far and we’re grateful to have a growing community of songwriters supporting us.
