What’s New

Version 1.5.2

** IMPORTANT: This is the last version that will support macOS 10.12. If this is an issue for you, please contact me directly at support@soundboardfx.com and I'll do my best to support you. **

Hi all,

This version fixes an issue where the app would crash when saving a file to an iCloud location. It also fixes a rare crash that might happen when attaching files to the feedback form. In addition, I've also added support for macOS Big Sur and the new M1 Macs (yay!), prettified some icons a bit, and fixed a bug that occurred when duplicating a file. It also fixes an issue with an experimental "l33tspeak" mode that unexpectedly appears after updating to Big Sur (a leftover remnant from the app's early days when it was a pet project of mine and not something I planned to distribute).

As always, please don't hesitate to contact me at support@soundboardfx.com if you have any concerns or questions.

A nice little one-trick-pony that works.

I needed a way to easily get to a few dozen sound files, and SoundBoard does this quickly, inexpensively, relatively easily, and without too many oddities.

But I would pay extra to remove the l33t boi speak on its buttons and labels. The first time I saw it I thought it was kinda funny and cute, and then went to the preferences to turn it off. Nope, you're stuck with it. "F4d3 !n Dur4t!0n" gets old.

Developer Response ,

My apologies about the leet speak! It was supposed to be an Easter egg a long time ago if you set your locale to “en-us-posix” (which wasn’t even supposed to be possible—don’t ask :P). Unfortunately, with the Big Sur update, the locale for American English computers seems to have switched to the POSIX variant.

Update: this issue was fixed in version 1.5.2.

Exactly what I needed

After updating to Catalina, SoundPlant no longer worked. Not wanting to wait for an eternity for an upgrade I found this gem. Worked perfectly with my bluetooth number pad and super easy to learn. Did crash a couple of times when saving to a subfolder within the desktop but no problem when saving directly to the desktop. All my sounds were saved when reopening the file even after moving the file to a subfolder. Only problem I found is that the program closes after saving, a minor inconvenience. Other then that, I am very happy with this purchase.

Can't trust for production environment

Took a chance since most of the "it crashes" reviews seemed to be from years ago. On the surface it's a great little app. Until it crashes. A lot. Didn't crash for hours during testing before event, then 5 times in 30 minutes. Reboot, only running this app, etc. Crashed twice during the show. Always the second I hit start on a clip (not the same clip). Other little poorly coded things--when you move a file up or down in the order the screen doesn't refresh right so you have to scroll up and down to force a refresh, etc. Fun toy for playing with sound effects, but if looking to play cues during live show, look elsewhere.
