Soundings turns the twice-daily balloon launches over the United States into
something you can actually read — a proper Skew-T log-P, a hodograph, and the
full convective parameter set, on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
THE SKEW-T, DONE RIGHT
• Classic 45° Skew-T log-P: temperature, dewpoint, and the parcel trace
• CAPE and CIN shaded on the chart and labeled where they occur
• Wind barbs in their own gutter; LCL, LFC, and EL marked on the profile
• Optional wet-bulb and virtual-temperature traces
• Pinch or scroll to zoom, drag to pan, double-tap to reset
PARCELS SIDE BY SIDE
Surface-based, mixed-layer, and most-unstable parcels in one table — CAPE, CIN,
LCL, LFC, EL, and lifted index — so you can see which one the atmosphere is
really offering. Draw any of them on the chart, or none.
WIND, SHEAR, AND STORM MODE
The hodograph plots the wind profile with Bunkers left- and right-moving storm
motion and shaded storm-relative helicity. Alongside it: the effective inflow
layer, 0–1 km / 0–3 km / effective SRH, effective bulk shear, and the composites
you actually reach for — SCP, STP, SHIP, derecho, EHI, and large hail. Every
value is drawn against its operational thresholds, so a number means something
at a glance. The math matches SHARPlib.
THE WHOLE NETWORK, ON A MAP
Browse every reporting site from Alaska to Puerto Rico on a map, or search by
name. The map shows which stations made the current cycle, so you know what's
up there before you tap. Star a station and it loads at launch.
WATCH IT EVOLVE
A station's recent launches appear as postage-stamp Skew-Ts — step back through
the cycles to watch a cap build, a dryline mix out, or moisture return.
FAMOUS SOUNDINGS
Eleven of the atmosphere's most-studied days, one tap away: the 1974 Super
Outbreak, Bridge Creek–Moore, April 27 2011, Joplin, Moore 2013, El Reno,
Hurricane Ian's landfall and inland deluge, the Buffalo lake-effect storm,
and more.
YOUR OWN DATA
Open Wyoming text, WMO TEMP (FM 35), or BUFR (FM 94) files straight from Fil
or Finder — a research sounding, an archived launch, a case study — and get
same chart and the same numbers.
MADE FOR EVERY SCREEN
One app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, with Imperial or SI units and adjustable
text size.
I read reviews before I purchase things and saw that these reviews were pretty good, so I purchased. After a week of having this ALL DATA is WRONG!!! It's all difficult to use, so I emailed the help center and still no response. Should've bought a king size Snickers with the $2 I spent on this app...
Best sounding app out there

Have you stood outside and looked up at the wispy clouds and wondered how high they are? Or watched atmospheric explosions as thunderstorms rapidly develop and wonder why? We live in a sea of air, a sea that constantly changes and one that affects us all. In this sea you'll see rivers of moisture over 3000 miles long, rapids of air moving at speeds of over 150 mph, explosions capable of keeping hail the size of softballs three miles above the ground, and stretches of calm where skies are clear and the weather is nice. Weather balloons, launched twice daily from over 800 locations around the globe, carry with them small instruments called radiosondes. These radiosondes basically take snapshots of the atmopheric sea as they rise to heights of over 10 miles. These snapshots show the temperature, moisture, and wind almost continuously all the way up into the stratosphere. Soundings Mobile takes these snapshots and creates charts of the temperature, moisture, and wind. In addition, Soundings Mobile also measures how much energy is in the atmosphere, giving forecasters an idea of how strong storms might be should they develop. Meteorologists, those with air pollution or fire weather concerns, chasers, pilots, astronomers, landscape photographers, weather enthusiasts, and anyone with an interest in the weather around them can use Soundings Mobile to help them make smart decisions. Whether you're wanting to know more about the jet stream, storms, or have an interest in the sea of air which surrounds us, Soundings Mobile can help. Highly recommended!.
Good app, could be improved.

The good:Displays basic algorithms, displays hodograph, displays skew-t, and displays basic parameters. App is inexpensive and feels very similar to the Radarscope Pro Tier ll soundings.**Before this section I just want to say the app is still good and it has a lot of potential**What should be changed/added:For me this app is sufficient but it seriously needs some work, for starters the UI really needs an overhaul and the hodograph should pre calculate a critical angle. Also a feature where you can click any area on the map and it gives you the closest sounding rather than you having to guess which station is closer. It would be really cool to have some more advanced algorithms besides stuff like stp which is basic sum equation. Now on the other hand vertically integrated stp is very advanced and would be sick to see added. Also maybe a basic formula to highlight whenever kinematic overlap is occurring no matter how insignificant and benign.
Great Soundings App

This app does what it needs to do. It doesn't try to be more and become a clunky app. As far as I can tell, the data seems accurate. I'm glad I don't have to find a random, reliable website.

Performance improvements for switching soundings
Selecting stations and navigating the map no longer accidentally triggers a nearest-station lookup
