Clip Editor, rebuilt • Zooms have their own lane: drag, stretch, add or delete them, and give each its own strength and timing. • Undo and redo (⌘Z / ⇧⌘Z), Space to play, a time ruler and an audio waveform under the timeline. • The sidebar is split into Frame, Zoom, Cursor, Clicks and Output tabs, and your edits are kept if you close without saving. • Seven new wave backgrounds for videos and a blue click highlight. Performance and fixes • Sowiks no longer slows down the longer it runs and uses far less memory. • A Studio take with the camera opens in the Clip Editor the moment you stop, instead of half a minute later. • The preview no longer stutters when you adjust zoom while a clip plays. • Adding a screenshot from inside the editor no longer brings back editors you had closed. • No Dock icon flash at launch, the menu bar recording dot is round on every display, and a rare crash after closing the editor is fixed.

CINEMATIC ZOOM & CURSOR (BETA) Turn it on behind the gear on the recording bar and the take is shot with no pointer in its pixels at all. The Clip Editor then zooms to each click and redraws the cursor sharp at any magnification. The cursor is in every frame; the zoom only happens around clicks. THE POINTER PRESSES The drawn pointer dips to 85% and springs back past full size once before settling, all inside 0.36 seconds — the motion a real button has, on the one thing in a screen recording that never had any. It scales about its tip, so the point the click landed on holds still. The hand presses too. POINTERS LOOK LIKE POINTERS A filled body, a crisp white border and a shadow under it. The hand used to be an outline glyph, so hovering a button put the button inside the cursor. You can also choose which one you record with: Arrow or Pointer. A QUIETER BACKGROUND BEHIND A CLIP Gradients and flat colours, and the wallpapers are gone. A photograph behind a moving recording competes with it for the eye. That also takes 6.3 MB of images out of the app. PADDING IS THE PADDING Padding 0 now means padding 0. The canvas margin used to be the larger of your padding and the room a drop shadow wanted, so with a shadow on, the first two percent of the slider changed nothing at all. A STEADIER CLIP EDITOR An export draws its progress along the timeline instead of spinning in place. Play is round and centred under the timeline, where you would look for it. The sliders match the screenshot editor's. And the record bar no longer waits on a cold camera scan before it opens.

PRESS AND HOLD TO REDACT Hold the mouse button on the canvas for half a second and Sowiks screenshot tool reads the shot and covers anything that looks like a password, an API key, a card number, a bank account, an email address, or a server you log into. It catches a password pasted beside its login, even when nothing labels either one. Every patch is an ordinary annotation from the moment it lands — move it, resize it, or press Delete. ⌘Z takes back a whole sweep in one press. The reading happens entirely on your Mac. Nothing about it leaves the machine. PINCH TO ZOOM Spread two fingers on the trackpad to zoom the editor canvas in, close them to zoom out. The canvas follows your fingers smoothly instead of jumping between stops, and the zoom pill counts along with them. ⌘0 fits the whole screenshot again. STACK OF SHEETS Put a stack behind your screenshot. Ghost floats two pale sheets that fade out, Deck slides two opaque ones down and to the right so it reads as several screenshots, and Fan pivots them a few degrees. Spread sets how far they travel. The sheets take existing padding first, so switching the stack on usually leaves your exported file the size it was. A CALMER BACKGROUND PANEL Layout and Effects open one at a time now, and a closed group tells you what it is holding. The size of the file you will actually get sits at the foot of the panel and finally counts shadows and stacks. Colour is kept for what you picked, not spent on every slider. A STEADIER EDITOR Adding padding no longer shoves the window around — your screenshot is fitted to the space the window already has. Opening the background panel makes room for itself instead of leaving controls behind a scroll. Background sliders follow the pointer instead of advancing in steps. And the panel's scroll bar no longer flickers as you move the cursor.
