Stil My Favorite Disk Space Analyzer

There are other prettier disk space analyzers out there, but Space Gremlin remains my favorite. Why? It’s space usage view: rectangles within rectangles, is the most intuitive and easiest to graps in my opinion. The other apps use fancier radial views and other representations of usage, but they’re harder to understand and less obvious. With Space Gremlin, space usage just jumps out at you and it’s immediately obvious what you need to clean up.

Also, this app is VERY FAST and reliable. I really like it.

Good job developers! :-)

I really like this app, one enhancement request

I've tried a number of disk space apps from the App Store and this is my favorite.

One enhancement request:

I'd like an option to get total number of files that a folder represents, including all it's subfolders, etc. Maybe an option to count directory entries themselves as a file.

Why?

Gremlin handles disk space really well.

But for Dropbox, it's the total number of file entries you have. And if you have ZILLIONS of file entries, Dropbox gets slow, especially on mobile devices.

When I see a folder that represents thousands and thousands of files, I can use zip and "move" the files into that archive. But I have to find the giant folders manually. It'd be nice if Gremlin could help find those as well.

Best in Category

When comparing Space Gremlin with the leading competitor there’s really no competition. Space Gremlin lacks the frilly animations that make the competing program so popular, but Space Gremlin simply blows the competition out of the water when it comes to getting the job done. Space Gremlin quickly shows me everything I need to know about my file system in a thoughtful and organized way.
