Amazing Game with Potential

This game has a lot of potential to be as good as Fallout Shelter. One of the main concerns people have with survival game is that can become repetitive over time. I’m currently at a point where I’m mostly grinding to recruit more people and upgrades my defense. At some point, what would be the goal when I’m at max level defense and 20 people in my squad? However, each mission gets challenging, which keeps the gameplay fun and enjoyable. There are a few bugs that need to be addressed, and the controls could use some improvement. Overall, though, the game is enjoyable. My biggest concern is the current use of gems and coins. Right coin, gems can be used to buy gold, and gold is essential for upgrading defenses and characters. It would be great to see gems used for other things-perhaps cosmetics. I also recommend adding a building feature that lets players move rooms around. For example, I built a defense room early on and spent a lot of gold on it, but after building other rooms around it, it became useless. I really hope this game continues to get updates, because it would be a shame if it was released and then left without additional content, like so many other games on the App Store. Thanks!

I have been waiting for a game like this. I was getting bored of my usual games and wanted to try something new. I absolutely love it! I’ve only been playing for a couple of days, but if the preview intrigues you, you really should try it. I love how it’s a mix of downtime and active fighting. I love collecting and mining and upgrading my ship. It’s just great fun. I also love going back to replay an area, and it is different… just like a planet would be - always evolving. I’m excited to see what more can be done to make this game even better over time.

Fun game but lots of bugs

I love the core concept of Space Squad Survival a mix of space exploration, squad management, and survival elements that has a lot of potential to hook players. The gameplay loop feels fresh and engaging, and I genuinely wanted to dive deeper into building my squad and tackling challenges.

Unfortunately, the game currently plays like it’s in early access, with several bugs and design oversights that frustrated me enough to stop at level 4.
Right from the start, there’s a noticeable bug in the tutorial: when prompted to upgrade the defensive cannon, the “upgrade” button doesn’t respond unless you manually drag it over the cannon itself. This clunky interaction sets a rough tone early on. Other issues compound the experience. Picked-up items (like gas) can’t be placed or equipped in any intuitive way, leaving them feeling useless. Worse, there’s no descriptions for items or rewards, turning choices into pure guesswork which kills the strategic depth the game seems to aim for. The narrative auto-advances without pause, robbing players of agency. It would be a huge improvement to add options to return to the ship or manually continue, allowing for better pacing and exploration.

These bugs and control problems made the game feel early access and hard to stick with, despite its charm. I’d happily revisit if the developers address these in updates fingers crossed for patches soon, as this could be a standout title with some refinements!
