I tried it once, ages ago and back then they’d only allow you a certain number of views per day. This, of course, irritated me because if I can’t access these cards anytime and whenever then what’s the point of making them so I deleted the app and promptly moved back to quizlet. I will say though, the newest update allows for total app function and you only pay to remove add and it’s amazing and incredibly kind of the developer to do so. I’ve already completely moved over to this app and, dare I say, it’s completely over run quizlet - as they’ve removed pretty much all any card customisation and labelled it a premium subscription - but also the user interface of the app is so much more easier to navigate than quizlet. I will happily pay for ad removal just as a show of support to the developers.Edit: it would be nice if you could get a richer text in your flash cards I.E being able to hold certain words, bullet points, italicise, highlight/color certain words etc
That’s great to hear! Glad you are enjoying it!
I’ve only been using this for two weeks and I know I would be floundering without it. I am learning HànZì (Chinese characters) and as the number of characters I am supposed to know increases, the greater the challenge in remembering them all. I am also learning spoken Chinese and that means even more to memorize. Smart Cards allows me to import the ANKI decks from both courses, prioritize cards I’m having trouble with (the app already keeps track of the ones you don’t know) so I don’t waste time on characters, words or phrases I already know well. The decks I’m importing have a small sound clip with the correct pronunciation. SmartCards handles those seamlessly. There are features to this app I haven’t explored yet and I’m sure I’ll get around to it. But, if I can use the app ‘straight out of the box’ and have it work out for me, I think that’s a win for me. And if it’s working this well, that’s five stars in my book.
Oh man, this has the strength and flexibility of Anki, but with an actual usable interface, optionally punting some of the complexity of card making to other apps that you can easily import from. I was moments from sitting down to write my own spaced repetition app, but after finding this one I don’t need to bother! Truly, my only grievance is that I can’t automatically add audio to my cards with text to speech (a killer feature in Quizlet for me). Yes, you can add audio to cards, but that only helps when manually adding audio to all your cards. I hope I’ve overlooked this feature or it’s in the pipeline; it is very frustrating to manually check my pronunciation every single time I’m unsure. Thanks for the great app. 5*
The app is hood and useful, but… A yearly subscription? nah. and as far as the free version with ads the pop up while you're trying to study… not sure who thought that was a good idea for a study aid app, but nah. you could find a good dollar amount, charge people, and be done. if you develop new features, sell the next version as an upgade for existing users or as new for new users with a fair dollar amount. even for a yearly subscription $10 is too much. $1… maybe $2 a year would be reasonable. $10 is what i’d pay for the app ad-free in perpetuity. if you came out with a new version with features i could use, i’d upgrade. i appreciate the effort involved, but at the end of the day… it’s flashcards… a text processor that offers and alternative to index cards and a felt tip marker.
I use this program to help me practice an extensive repertoire of traditional Irish music, which should be played from memory during sessions. I list the name of the tune on the front of the card and include an audio file of the tune and an image of the sheet music on the flip side of the card. The minor flaw is the “edit” menu for the audio attachment appears mostly offscreen when my iPad is in portrait mode and entirely offscreen when in landscape mode, preventing me from either deleting or replacing the audio file. Therefore, I have to delete the entire card, then recreate it with the new audio file.I’m using a 4th gen iPad Air with iOS 16.1.1.
This app is wonderful, I use it for medical school and I find it easy to use, however you have to finish a whole deck before it logs your progress, like you can’t do half the deck, close the app and start later, it will delete all your progress and act as if you never did any of the cards in the deck. I can’t get the camera feature to work. When I try to take a picture of illustrations the camera just shows up black as if there is nothing to take a picture of. It is the only app that does that, my camera works fine, so I have to take a picture with the camera, save it, and then add it into the flash card, but I’d save a lot of time if the camera just worked.
Progress is always logged- you don't need to finish the whole deck! The camera works- but you need to grant the camera permission either the first time you use the app or later in the settings app.
