Can you beat the aliens in Spaceship Battles? Snap modules together on a grid to build your own custom space craft. Fly your ship in the single player campaign to unlock additional ship modules and waste those aliens. Battle up to 8 friends in local multiplayer over WiFi or Bluetooth.

Spaceship Battles is available for iPhone and iPad and is free, contains no advertising and no in app purchases.

Cannons, mines, missiles, spikes, flamethrowers, lasers, thrusters, armor, shields and warp engines can be combined any way you like to build a ship that is small and nimble or large and packed with weapons and armor.

Drag and drop ship modules onto a grid. Tap on a module to rotate it. Modules are connected to other modules when their flat side touch. Fire weapons and thrusters using the action buttons at the bottom of the screen. Drag those buttons to position and combine them. When you ready fly your ship!

Fight multiplayer battles against your friends. Each player needs an iPad or iPhone and you need to be gathered together in the same place. Make sure everyone has bluetooth enabled for the best performance.

Fun, but basic.

This game was one of those that grabbed me and I wound up glued to it till I beat it. The physics are pretty good and learning to fly with any sort of accuracy is definitely the biggest challenge.

The UI needs polishing and the parts picker needs work. Being able to ungroup and regroup the buttons would be a great help as well as being able to have multiple buttons to control one part.

I look forward to updates, more story, and some replayability.

Awesome Game, Improvements Possible

It’s the game that never ends. Sure, it’s got an end goal and “game over, you win” screen, but the endless fun is in the endgame - when you’ve collected all the parts in the game and can build everything from tiny nimble fighters to enormous lumbering battleships and space stations - preying upon friendly ships, helping the Terrans (or aliens) in a battle, or just screwing around in the outstanding multiplayer battles. (Just for the record my favorite pastime is hanging out in the alien home base and building gigantic space stations, and then seeing how long they last against the aliens’ powerful lasers while returning their volleys with nothing but a barrage of colorful missiles.)

So it’s fun. But it could use some improvements. None detract from the enjoyment of the game but they would certainly make it better.

First, the parts picker, as mentioned by several other reviewers, isn’t... quite the best. It works okayish, but a much better solution would be to have a drop down or separate menu to select a part, and then just tap everywhere you want to place that part, instead of dragging parts one at a time from the parts picker ribbon onto your ship. This would allow you to build ships quicker and more hassle-free; the problem of accidentally scrolling out of the part you’re using is gone.

The second (and last) is a suggestion. Often times I want to build a large, complex ship, get it destroyed and rebuild it again. It would be great if I could save master blueprints for entire ships. The implementation would be simple; a mere menu off somewhere in the ship builder page that lets you choose to either save ship as a new blueprint or load a saved blueprint. (A button to clear the working space would be great too; dragging pieces off one at a time gets old very quickly.) Blueprints could be listed alongside their material usage, and loading would be simple; if you had enough material, you could load it; if you didn’t, you couldn’t.

So overall, great game, has tons of potential to be even better. Kudos to the dev.

**EDIT**

I can progress way too quickly!! I’d like it to be much more of a challenge to get more resources. Right now I could fire a couple missiles at another spaceship and instantly gain like 2000 metal and 500 polymer. That kind of takes the fun out of a slow, fairly difficult progression. Maybe a difficulty scale would work, or just reducing how much resources you gain by destroying parts of other enemies ships by 50-75 percent.

**ANOTHER EDIT**

Implementation would be a bigger project but the ability to create AI spaceships that fight for you would be cool. So I could fly around in my mothership while my army of minions blows everything up. Also a solar system with a black hole would be cool. Totally haven’t watched Interstellar recently.

UI could use some work

Very cool concept, but a better way to pick parts is absolutely needed, like a dropdown for categories and the ability to make a copy of a part. It’s rather difficult scrolling back and forth just to get parts to put on the ship. Also I am unsure if it is possible to ungroup parts once the buttons are locked without deleting the parts.
