Fine at First

Update: it took a while but I heard back from the Spark team and they restored my account and gave me a few days of premium access. Premium access is a must to really get the benefits of this app. Will continue to use the app now and have updates from 2 to 5 stars.

I was really loving this app and was even considering paying the premium but their algorithm to watch for violations like vulgarity, etc is way to strict. I didn’t do anything wrong and then bam…was blocked with no explanation and no information on if I would be unblocked after a period of time. They have an appeal button but clearly nobody checks that email because it’s been days now so it’s just there to make you feel like you have some control. Really a shame.

I was recently banned for no reason, I reached out to the support team and they fixed it within 48 hours. I’m pretty sure because I was discussing “prices” of rent and housing with friends, not selling, just talking about how everything is so expensive. So anyway thank you for fixing!

Here’s why NOT to use Spark

I gave it three stars because honestly the app is a great concept and i’ve had pleasant experiences and exchanges.

However, they don’t have 24/7 customer service, so when you’re randomly banned for absolutely no reason there’s at least 12 hours where you can’t use it. In my opinion, this is a waste of my money because it’s time i’ve lost that I paid for. There has to be something done about the banning as this is my second time for literally no reason- as the reasons listed I have not done. At the very least, if im a paying user, I should have my issues addressed quickly and I shouldn’t have to worry about being banned because I hurt someones feelings by not meeting their needs.

Thank you for your detailed feedback! Unfortunately, you are correct - our support team can take up to 12 hours to respond at the moment. As a startup, we don't yet offer 24/7 support, but we are actively working on it! We sincerely apologize for the repeated, unjustified blocking and for the negative experience you had in our app. During the testing phase of our automatic blocking system, there were some false positives, but the system has since been improved, and such issues should not occur again. We needed to go through this process to ensure users can remain anonymous safely, while minimizing risks of scams or inappropriate content. Once again, we apologize and hope you'll give our app another chance, as we are continuously working to improve it every day🥹
