It works like magic!

As soon as I saw demos of spatial photos and video from Apple, I wanted more. And once I got my Vision Pro, it was one of the most fun things I played with. So of course I then wanted to go back and take some of my “old” photos and videos and see what they would look like as spatial versions. Well, Spatial Media Toolkit gives that to you! You can go through your entire Photos library of photos and videos and convert them. It’s fun and addictive… and brings back even more memories from every photo because the spatial element brings them more to life. Great app!!!

Promising app with some bugs that still need to be squashed

The 3D rendering came out a lot better than I thought it could, and the latest version now offering a lot faster rendering was sorely needed and greatly appreciated. However when attempting to save a rendered video:

— if the original was opened as ‘hidden’, your newly-rendered video will not be able to save back to the hidden folder as well, and doesn’t save anywhere for that matter despite leading you to believe it saved successfully

— if the original video was saved out in the regular photo library, the newly rendered video will save as the same 2D video instead of the desired 3D video. So now you have two copies of your original 2D video. The only way to get past this is to save it to ‘files’, open it, then save the video back to your photo library.

Hi TDederick,

Thank you for the review, glad you're enjoying the new updates. And I really appreciate the helpful steps to reproduce that bug! Working to squash that now. Onward and upward.

Great app but buggy for longer videos

I’ve noticed if I try to render a longer video and I physically walk behind the video it stops rendering and I have to restart and the same thing happens if I go to watch a special video in immersive air stops and I have to restart. If I have an hour long video I noticed I have to break it up in increments to make it work properly. If the app didn’t have these bugs I’d rate it 5 stars and hopefully the dev can fix the issues. I did purchase the lifetime version btw

Developer Response ,

Thank you for the feedback - super helpful. I thought I fixed these but turns out it behaves differently in the dev environment. Unfortunately visionOS has a number of situations it suspends the app and you've found a few. Including the walking behind one - I didn't know about that! Unfortunately in a suspended state, the OS doesn't allow the app to read or write video. I'm working to make it so that at the very least it pauses and resumes when you come back to the app.

In the meantime, if you have a Mac, I did put out a Mac app. MacOS does not have these restrictions and you should be able to convert your movies in one shot. Your Lifetime purchase will carry over to the Mac app with no additional purchase necessary as long as you're signed in with the same Apple ID.

I really appreciate your support and will be working to make it better! Thanks again!
