Description

"Spdr is the Swiss Army Knife of reading apps." -Enzo, Spdr reader

People normally read at a rate of 150-200 words per minute. With Spdr (pronounced “Speeder”), you can instantly double that without even trying and still retain the same amount of information. There is no learning or effort required. Watch the app preview videos above to experience it before downloading. Then, download Spdr and try it out for yourself for free.

Here's how Spdr works:

Spdr displays words one-by-one, with Punctuation Pauses giving Spdr a natural and seamless feel. Rather than moving your eyes across and down a page like you normally would, Spdr allows you to absorb text as it is presented. This means your eyes don't have to work as hard, enabling you to read and retain more text faster without your eyes getting tired and fatiguing.

We recommend starting at double the average adult reading speed, or 300-400 words per minute, and working your way up as you feel comfortable.

Spdr is free for you to try in order to see whether the technique works for you:

(1) Simply copy most links or any text and paste into the text box in Spdr
(2) Set your desired words-per-minute rate
(3) Hold down anywhere on the screen to start, and lift to pause

Just Incredible, Thank You

I was instantly sold on this app/tool when I completed the introduction tutorial. This app is genius in my opinion. I was reading lightning fast, 300 words a minute and still retaining the information. This is so darn cool.

Thank you for this brilliant application but also, most especially for selling this app ethically with a one-time purchase price and no subscription garbage. I cannot tell you how grateful and thankful that I am to you for being a rad developer and not ruining your app with a subscription.

I'm always more inclined to buy any application or video game if there is no subscription plan attached to them. So, again, I commend you and thank you for being an upstanding developer and for the amazing work that I believe you did with this groundbreaking app.

Oh, and also, I just love that, Spdr, will allow me to import .epub book files. That makes this app even more worth the asking price in my opinion. I have tons of public domain .epub books that I've been meaning to tackle for forever now and I think using Spdr will be the absolute best and most efficient way to read them all. So, thank you for that awesome option as well, I'm so excited to finally read Jules Verne, H.G. Wells, Agatha Christie, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Bram Stoker and so many more with this program 👏🏻😁👍🏻.

Thank you sincerely for this program and the ethical way you chose to sell it. Developers like you are a rare breed today in my opinion.

This is the most incredible and thoughtful review we have ever received. Printing, framing, and going on the wall. Thank you very much for your support.

Has promise, but very frustrating

This app could be very good with glaring bug fixes and some attention to detail. The main issue is that users cannot test features at all until they make the purchase.

Here are several issues I’ve come across with only a few days of use. Content does not get shared properly from Apple News or the web. Cookies aren’t recognized even with the Store Cookies setting (why not just use the shown content instead of trying to download the original article?). The anchor character sometimes moves around, making reading very jumpy and reducing comprehension. The anchor is sometimes a symbol (for example, the apostrophe in “doesn’t”). Ellipses (...) are shown one dot at a time. The Apple Watch app doesn’t recognize any content, even short articles, and there is no feedback on how to sync content. All it says is that Spdr Pro is required. EPUBs are loaded with raw CSS markup, making them useless. The UI itself is a bit clunky and unrefined.

I’ll keep using the app and hoping that these issues are addressed. The app has potential to be great. But it’s got a ways to go.

Best Speed Reader available but needs improvements

I’ve tried most of the speed readers available in the Apple Store and think SPDR is the best. I especially like the ability to import images and how outs OCR capability lets you read the page. I think 3 improvements are much needed: 1) Pasted links don’t seem to work as well as with some other apps. This is a problem as I read quite a few newspapers and quick pasting of links would to read more stickers in less time. 2) While the iPhone version is always reliable, the iPad Version is spotty (iPad Pro 11” in my case). The screen format gets messed up often, particularly in vertical layout where some features run off to the far left side), and 3) horizontal guidelines would be nice to have. I’ll stick with it regardless but to me, these improvements would be game over vs other alternatives.
