Specialized - Mission Control 4+

Mission Control tracks your rides and allows you to customize your bike’s power setting. However, there are a couple things that need fixing. 1) The app requires Location be set to “Always”. If you forget to turn Location off after riding, it will contribute to drain the phone’s battery. The developers need to make the app work when Location is set to “While Using.”. 2) since updating the phone to IOS 15.6, the app shuts down every few seconds while riding. To prevent this, you need to touch the screen each time it begins to fade. If the screen goes dark, you have to unlock the phone. When the app restarts, it draws a straight line from the location where the screen went dark and the current location, regardless of your actual path.

Just bought a gen 3 Levo with mastermind and unfortunately BLEvo is not compatible. I’ve been on a gen 2 Levo using BLEvo for nearly 2 years and a Kenevo before that. You would think that with as much tech goes into these bikes and how large Specialized is as a company that they would have an app as as good as if not better than BLEvo. Come on Specialized ! Step it up ! If some random app creator can make BLEvo surely you can come up with something better than the current Mission Control app.

The app was fine, not great. Then the upgrade made things worse. As others have said, most of the issues are around the post-ride reporting. I was hoping the upgrade would make things better, such as importing a map file and using it during the ride in the map screen (like Garmin or RideWithGPS). Alas, there were no advances and some things that were backwards.

The worst thing is the inability to update the firmware even though the app has connectivity. The app just says take the bike to the specialized dealer. HOWEVER specialized decided to cut out the dealer network so the bike shop where I bought the bike is now a Trek dealership. Specialized needs to either make the firmware upgrade user-achievable or actually have dealers. It’s idiotic to be in this “in between” place.
