One of the significant updates in the ESS App is its new automatic tracking feature for user activity. Now, as users commence their day, the app seamlessly records their activities and presents them in a chronological timeline format within the ESS application.
For instance, the app intelligently identifies whether the user remains stationary or is in transit, and visualizes this information on the user interface throughout the duration of the day. This functionality alleviates the burden on users to manually log and input their locations.
To offer a more comprehensive overview, we have segmented our remote work policy into three distinct categories:
1. Work from Office: Specific locations outlined in the app are enclosed within geo-fences. Upon entering the office premises, the user's day initiates automatically or via manual activation, depending on the configuration.
2. Work from Field: Field personnel enjoy the flexibility to commence their workday from any location or within their designated geo-fenced area, again depending on the app's configuration.
3. Work from Home: Users retain the choice to start their workday from the comfort of their homes.
Additionally, the ESS App now encompasses tracking capabilities for team members. Essentially, it functions as a GPS location tracker and sharing platform equipped with end-to-end encryption. Real-time location data of team members is accessible, with the caveat that GPS location sharing is contingent upon mutual consent from all parties involved. Upholding the privacy of team members is paramount, urging users to share their location exclusively with trusted individuals. Managers have the privilege of accessing the tracking data of team members, ensuring transparency and accountability. It's worth noting that all location information remains secured through end-to-end encryption.
It's essential to bear in mind that the prolonged utilization of location services in the background may significantly impact battery life. Consequently, team members are encouraged to grant background location permissions for accurate location data retrieval.
