Spectrum is a collection of 3 Audio Unit synthesizers and one Audio Unit effect.

Spectrum is based on popular eurorack synthesizer modules made by Mutable Instruments.

Included are four audio units:

Spectrum - Multi-mode 8-voice polyphonic oscillator featuring 14 high quality oscillator algorithms. Supports MPE.

Modal - Modal synthesis. Bowed, Blowed, and Struck sounds through a 64-band resonator. Also included as an effect.

Resonator - 7 beautiful string generation algorithms. Also included as an effect

Granular - Granular sampler, looper, pitch shifter, reverb effect. Note that Granular is an Audio Unit effect, not an instrument, so it goes in an effect slot.

To use Spectrum, load the Audio Units in your DAW or AU host of choice, like Audiobus, GarageBand or AUM.

Each audiounit also features:
- modulation LFO featuring tempo sync, key reset, reset phase adjustment
- modulation ADSR envelope
- XY touchpad (except on Modal)
- 2-source modulation matrix allowing for complex and evolving patches.
- MIDI CC control of parameters
- Resonator and Modal are also loadable as an AudioUnit effect

Spectrum contains DSP code provided under the MIT open source license by Mutable Instruments.

Old UI was far better on portable devices such as the iPhone m

Dear developer,

You are a legend when it comes to granular synthesis, your plugin is marvelous and I’ve tried them all on iOS at least.

I hope you will consider bringing back the old UI as an option at least since it was way more practical on phones (where I do most of my music), portrait mode was way easier to handle before than it is now ; everything is incredibly small and it feels necessary to utilize the whole screen to make changes - this wasn’t the case before and it was far smoother as an experience.

The new look DOES look better tho, although that is somewhat secondary imho.

I’ve also been experiencing lots of crashes since the previous update but now that I realize that this has been updated again I will try it out and let you know if any of the glitches are still present on this update.

Thank you for offering these for free - I would have gladly paid for them though. Fantastic work.

Powerful Plugins!

I’m so happy with this app, Mutable Instrument’s Eurorack modules are amazing and it’s super fun to have software ports I can carry around in my pocket! I’m glad this is free, it’s really impressive considering the prices of similar apps - for example, Ripplemaker is about $10, yet I use these just as often! I would love to see more Mutable ports, maybe Ripples or Stages, but I can’t complain, these are wonderfully fun! Essential for anyone messing with iOS music!

Bet on the market?

Using just the Spectrum synthesizer alone, just about anything can be done - from smooth leads and cutting-edge basses to swirling pads and epic drones to atmospheric soundscapes and sound effects. Add to that the awesome power of the Modal and Resonator synthesizers... Spectrum is probably the best bargain out there for AUv3, period.

The question is not “what can it do.” The question is “what CAN’T it do”... and for the record, that’s a hard question to answer.
