A couple game breaking bugs exist, but it works well enough most of the time. The UI is super obnoxious and makes horrible use of the space. Multiplayer support is trash. The gameplay bug I encounter the most is that if you have the ability to buy a card, you can’t choose to instead reserve it and take the gold, you may ONLY it if you have the ability to afford it. You may not reserve it. Overall the digital version of the game is a huge bummer in spots but is thankfully carried by how good the actual board game is.
This is a really fun and fantastic game, the challenges are great for keeping it interesting too.
I’ve reduced my rating by a star because the user account has issues. It was always disconnecting and making me log in every time, but I didn’t really have to be logged in unless I wanted to play a particular set of challenges so it wasn’t a big deal. However recently the updated it and it wiped all of my scores for the main game and all of the challenges, and when I tried to log in hoping it would restore it they had lost my account information on their servers.
So I had to make a new account and start over; this time it actually stayed logged in which was nice; but after a week or two I was not logged in when I went into the game and found out my account information was lost again. I still have my scores but I’m sure they’ll eventually update and wipe them again, and even if I make a new account they’ll just lose it again. I’m so sick of this.
I play this a lot and I like it but ever so often there will be an unbuyable card on the table. For example, today there was a 4 ruby card worth one prestige point on the lowest rank. I had 3 ruby cards and 1 ruby coin but it would not let me buy the card. It’s happened a few times and causes me to lose the game. I noticed the AI wasn’t picking the card either.
For the challenge modes, where you have to complete a Solitaire type play, it’s somewhat interesting but won’t develop any skills related to the game. It generally feels like you are just trying to find your way out of a maze and with enough tries, you’ll probably hit the magic combination of moves to do it.
The standard game is fine and the AIs okay, but they don’t try to stop my strategies or gang up on me like real players. The only time they’ve swiped cards i’m going for has been by chance I’m sure.
Overall, it’s worth the money and still a great game.
