This app is terrible. Has serious bugs and no support. I do not recommend. I coach 2 lacrosse teams. I have used the SI Play app the past couple of seasons to communicate with my teams and was pleased with it. I had to update to the new SportsSignup Play (SSU) app this season. When I login to the app it takes me directly to my teams. I can navigate the schedule, roster, etc. however the app shows me as not being active. I’m clearly logged in and listed as the coach. However the SSU app doesn’t recognize me or let me use any of the communication tools. I submitted multiple request through the app for assistance and the only response I get is to “contact my league administrator.” I’ve contacted my league administrator. The league cannot help because I am clearly listed as the coach in the app for both teams. There is obviously a bug in the app. I have also emailed and called the SSU help line and left a message but have not received any support.
Hard to Use - Not Worth The Trouble
This app is a great idea but the functionality makes it kind of a pain to use when trying to track and manage a team. Most of the features are hard to figure out which makes this app a pain when you’re at the field also managing a team in real life. The screen says “email your team and your messages will be saved here” but there’s no way to send a message. Or if there is, it’s not very apparent how to use it. You have to mark attendance before the end of the game/practice or you can’t edit. This is a pain because I’m really busy managing the team and I don’t know who’s going to show up until they show up. And then we’re busy - so when do I have time to actually log attendance? This feature is a little unrealistic. We can’t log progress of our programs on the app, we have to use a desktop - which many volunteers in our league don’t use, making this app pointless for us in a lot of ways. I am a volunteer with the Junior Giants - our league has quite a lot of feedback regarding the functionality of this app - would appreciate someone from the UX team contacting me so we can give some usability feedback. The league recommends this app, it’s advertised on all Junior Giants collateral, but it’s not a realistically helpful tool... yet! I’d love to help you get there with some human factor feedback. First Time APP User
I’m new to this app and am a Team Manager. So far, I absolutely love this app, so much so, I actually contacted Sports Engine (I guess they have recently taken over this app) to request info on how to use this for a different organization. I’ve read a lot of negative reviews but I haven’t experienced any of these issues yet. I have been able to use the Team Chat, as well as, the “Easy Alert” functions to contact my players parents with only one issue so far. That issue was a parent not seeing any updates and not finding “our team” on their app, until they closed it and then reopened the app. Once they did that, all of the new info was there. I’ll hold out for the 5th Star until seeing what happens goi g forward.
