SSPX calculates strain/strain rate from displacement/velocity data in 2D and 3D. SSPX works on problems such as computing strain rates from GPS data, computing finite strain in a discrete element model, or computing strain from displacements in an analogue model. Geographic data can be displayed in a Map/Satellite View. SSPX can also batch process sequential files. SSPX is a powerful tool to compute and analyse strain. NOTE: SSPX runs on OSX 10.9 +
more - Add an option in Preferences to store the components of the strain tensor. If this option is on, the app also calculates the Frobenius norm of the strain tensor. This is also known as strain intensity.
- Add menus to color cells by strain intensity or its error.
- Add a menu to save the strain components as txt
- Rewrite equations with Latex in the program's documentation

- Keep the layer id information from cdem files. OBS: Since the layer coloring scheme is now different, this change affects previously loaded cdem files or DEM text files that have been saved as sspx files. For cdem files, just load them again to recreate the layer coloring.
- When saving strain to text, add a last column for the station name; this is the layer id from cdem.
7.6 Apr 14
. Significant optimisation of strain computations. Strain at stations and nearest neighbours methods (2D and 3D) run much faster.
. Map view shows as Satellite when first shown.
. Fixed several issues with the progress bar.
. Batch processing files was not working because of a bug after completion. That is now fixed.

Make the datum and width text fields in the Slice view of the Inspector editable. That way precise values for these two parameters can be entered. This offers more flexibility than just changing these values with the sliders.
7.4 07/11/2024
Radii of elements are written to text files when saving strain at stations in 2D or 3D
7.3 06/12/2024
. Add menu to compute cumulative strain from cdem2D increments
. Optimize nearest neighbour routine
. Modify strain at stations to color elements by strain
. For DEM models and Delaunay strain, checking for distorted triangles also check (and remove) triangles whose side is longer than 4 times the maximum radius of the elements.
. Use Command + drag to drag and drop the Plot view or the Scale Bar view.
. Replace lots of deprecated code
. Minimum deployment is macOS 10.13
. Compiled in Xcode 15.3
7.2 05/15/2024
For imported cdem documents: 1. Fixed colouring of growth sequences, 2. In first growth sequence changed red layers to magenta, 3. If subtracting files, fixed new elements in second growth sequence.
7.1 03/26/2021
For Delaunay or nearest neighbour method, decrease the tolerance value to 1e-15. This is required for problems where the stations coordinates are large, but the spacing between stations is small. Thanks to Chris Milliner for pointing out this.
