Standard Notes is a simple and private notes app. It allows you to write and sync your notes across all your devices, including your iPhone, iPad, Mac, and web browser.
Private means your notes are end-to-end encrypted, so only you can read your notes. Even we can't read the contents of your notes.
Simple means it does one job and does it well. Standard Notes is a safe and lasting place for your life's work. Our focus is making it easy to write notes wherever you are and syncing them with encryption to all your devices.
Our users love us for:

Standard Notes is completely open-source, which means when we say your notes are encrypted with AES-256 encryption, and that only you can read your notes, you don't have to take our word for it. Our code is open to the world to audit.
We made Standard Notes simple because longevity is important to us. We want to make sure we're here, protecting your notes, for the next hundred years. You shouldn't have to find a new notes app every year.
To sustain our development, we offer an optional paid program called Standard Notes Extended. Extended gives you access to powerful tools including:
• Productivity editors (like Markdown, Code, Spreadsheets)
• Beautiful themes (like Midnight, Focus, Solarized Dark)
• Powerful cloud tools including daily backups of your encrypted data delivered to your email inbox every day, or backed up to your cloud provider (like Dropbox and Google Drive).
You can learn more about Extended at standardnotes.org/extended.
We're always happy to talk, whether it be a question, thought, or issue. Please feel free to email us any time at email@example.com. When you take the time to send us a message, we'll be sure to do the same.

I installed this on my phone and MacBook without issues and loved using it. It is fast simple and works well.
So I decided to switch to it as my main notes app. But when I installed it on my iPad it said incorrect email and password. Ok. Maybe the password manager had an issue. So I copy pasted the password from my phone since I know it works fine on there. No dice.
I email in their support. I reinstall and support tells me they won’t be looking into it further. So I read the reviews. Seems to be a consistent issue where it can’t login to more than a couple devices at once.
I check their help site and find a passive aggressive article about how a surprising number of people can’t copy paste text. And 100% of the issues are due to that.
Seems to be a surprisingly high number of people keep running into the same issue. But it isn’t a “real issue”.
Then I read some more of their docs. Check out their philosophy on product feedback. I shouldn’t have been surprised at how reporting the issue was treated.
It seems like they built something pretty cool and are really passionate about encryption. But not so much about the rest of the product. Which is unfortunate. Since on the surface it is so awesome.
Edit: after updating app it works great on multiple devices
This app will ruin you month and maybe your year
So I have an experimental Linux system. Had to reinstall it 2 months ago and couldn’t get back into my notes. Tried literally for hours. They do not have you verify your e-mail so if you typed that wrong you outta luck. So I blamed it on this. If what I lost could be quantified in hours I’d say at least 150. So I download this and use it again. This time making very careful punches on my keyboard. Signed in and before I did another thing signed out. Then a downloaded a copy to my iPad and signed in and kept everything in sync. Well gotta great deal on an ssd drive and have just installed it. My backups in the cloud and that key is in standard notes. After maybe a dozen attempts to sign in typing the same thing every time to my disbelief it logged me in on Ubuntu. Pick up my iPad and after dozens of attempts I still cannot get in on the iPad. They will tell you it’s entry error. Nope not a chance not that many times in a row. No chance. I’m as meticulous as an assassin. These guys got a bug and will mislead their users who in turn are injured their their product. Glad I didn’t put my Swiss banks accounts on this garbage. In moving everything off of and and uninstalling as soon as I’m done with the this comment. I can only imaging what has been lost by other users. Ima tell everyone I know simply out of care and concern for other.
This is a really great app. Very simple and straight forward. The only reason I am giving 4/5 stars is because there is no way to toggle dark mode on/off. I understand that extra themes come with the premium subscription, however not everyone can afford to keep up with a monthly subscription or an upfront payment of $50 or $150 (which is kind of an outrageous amount to pay if you just want the dark theme). If the delevopers read these reviews, I would just ask that a simple toggle be added to switch between light and dark mode... You don't even have to take one of your premium themes and add it to the free mode, I am just asking that in addition to your blue and red theme there be a toggle to switch the background color from white to black (the same amoled black you have in your focus theme). Please please please, this app will be absolutely PERFECT if you would be so generous as to add such a toggle to the free version of the app. Or at the very least make this option an in app purchase of say $5 or $10. I would be willing to pay for this feature, and I'm sure others would too.
