Description

"Loved it! Challenging and utterly brilliant in its concept. A highly innovative game that has a solid basis grounded in psychology for a change. Thank you!"

Do you like logic puzzles that challenge your cognitive skills? Well, here’s a new one that’s totally different to anything you’ve ever played. Simply tap the shapes in the correct order to match the pattern shown. It’s a lot harder than it looks!

Brain training programmes are usually designed by neuroscientists, but Stenciletto was designed by clinical and educational psychologists. This makes it unique and challenging as your brain hasn't experienced anything like it before.

Stenciletto is not available in any other brain training programme, so even if you’re already doing daily cognitive activities, you’ll find this a welcome little addition to your toolset.

“Loved it! Challenging and utterly brilliant in its concept. A highly innovative game that has a solid basis grounded in psychology for a change. Thank you!”

“I don't usually play a lot of games on my phone, but this one I really enjoy. It is challenging without being frustratingly difficult. I thought I would breeze past all the puzzles and be bored, but nope! I love the colors and the challenge! Thank you for a great game!”

“…this is a great little puzzle game. It's a good brain workout for the daily commute, and is deceptively challenging under the cute graphics - simple shapes quickly become more complex. Should keep me occupied for a while…”

LEARN SOMETHING NEW!
Scientists have shown that learning something different is a great way to stimulate the brain to create new neural pathways, plus it keeps the learning process fun and engaging.

Neuroplasticity is the way the brain changes throughout life to adapt, learn and recover. Fresh cognitive experiences help develop new neural pathways, creating lasting changes in the structure of your brain.

You can feel this process happening as you learn Stenciletto: the first puzzles seem impossibly hard, yet - after a few games - you're finding it relaxing and satisfying.

PROGRESSIVE GAME WITH MODES
Brain training games like Stenciletto offer a series of cognitive workouts that get progressively harder as you improve. A good brain training game maintains a high level of challenge, whilst keeping you mindfully entertained and wanting more. Stenciletto has four levels of graded puzzles, plus additional new games for players with high-level visual and perceptual skills.

We all learn in different ways and to reflect this Stenciletto has three modes of play. Two of these are competitive, with lives, a timer, and leaderboards. The other is a relaxed Zen mode of play with no time limits or lives: just chill out and take as much time as you like.

OTHER FEATURES YOU’LL LOVE!
- Win an animated Smiley for each classic game you complete.
- No adverts! For us, putting adverts in a brain training game just doesn’t make sense. The whole point of the game is to make you to think hard, and there’s nothing as annoying as an advert popping up just when you’re concentrating on solving a problem.

- No subscriptions! Just purchase the content and any additional features you want. Life time purchases, with family sharing enabled.

- Designed and created specifically for mobile devices. Stenciletto is designed using super-fast vector graphics, so you get a pixel-perfect experience as you play.

- It works offline (purchases must be made online first).

BACKED BY SCIENCE
Stenciletto is backed by a hundred years of psychological scientific research.

The game was originally created by Grace Arthur Ph.D, a clinical psychologist who expanded our understanding of intelligence by creating new ways of IQ testing. She used visual and spatial perception games like Stenciletto to do this.

Reuven Feuerstein Ph.D, an educational psychologist, demonstrated that intelligence is modifiable through teaching cognitive thinking skills. He called the process Structural Cognitive Modifiability (these days it’s better known as neuroplasticity). This game is one of his teaching tools to elevate intelligence.

What’s New

Version 4.0

First, a big thank you to everyone who’s sent us reviews and feedback over the past few months. Launching a brand new game isn’t easy - especially for small indie studios - so receiving high quality reviews telling us what you want is really appreciated.

So here are some of your lovely (honest) comments…

REVIEWS
“This is a beautiful game, and I love puzzles. … but I have never been able to enjoy a game that has a timer. I was very excited about Immortality mode! But the timer is still there! Many games allow you to play in Zen mode; I wish that were available. I’m going to have to stop playing (after only mastering a few beginner levels.) I don’t need more stress in my life! I’m giving you five stars anyway, because it is a lovely, well-implemented puzzle game.”

“I think it’s an amazing concept but I hate the timers (and lives but mostly the timers). It feels like the game is punishing you for playing. I get that some people must like that and I understand the appeal I do, but it’s just too quick. I wish there was a mode without timers which I don’t think would be too difficult to implement. Again, I really like the puzzles themselves but the timer is just unnecessary.”

Our No. 1 requested feature is for us to remove the timer and lives, so in this release we’ve done that. Mindful Mode allows you to play without any distraction and take as long as you like to solve each puzzle. You can also complete the puzzles in any order you like. Mortal and Immortal Modes are still in the game for players who enjoy being competitive.

Our No. 2 requested feature is for more advanced games. Many of you learn the strategies for completing the puzzles quickly, and enjoy the challenge, so you’re getting to complete all the games after a few weeks.

Rather than extending games using Grace Arthur’s shapes, we’ve added new shapes and colors. We know that you’re very good with the basic geometric shapes and colors, but can you apply your skills and knowledge to new situations?

The shapes and colors in the new games are inspired by patterns from ancient mandalas, sacred geometry and nature, so change much more frequently. You can’t learn the shapes so easily, plus the colors are different for each game. Just to keep you on your toes!

Lovely, but the timer is stressful to me.

We're adding a 'casual' mode in the next major update. Should be in a few weeks. That should work for you.

Game is fun, but hard to know boundaries

This game could use some more basic info about each level such as min/max amount of layers to solve. Also, the templates can be a bit small which makes it hard to tell slight differences. Also, why would you give more points to a complete clock timeout and retry than changing and succeeding right before clock times out? This teaches that if at first you don’t succeed it’s better to wait out the timer instead of trying to fix. Also - what’s the point of getting higher scores? How do I rate on certain puzzles? What do these puzzles tell me about me? How am I doing? Etc.

Developer Response ,

There is a toolbar info button for each puzzle. Click on the solution shapes, they'll grow to give you a better look. Handling time is a strategic decision. Each attempt gets a lower maximum score and you only win lives on your first attempt. You can choose to ignore scores and ratings, some people demand them.
