No, not as some think a group for sewing enthusiasts!
I first heard of Stitch when I lived in the US, but I was moving so didn’t follow up.
On arriving in the UK, I suddenly remembered and joined, but then got busy, so, like many people I didn’t do anything with them for ages. Thank goodness for email!! I got an email inviting me to something and that really was the start of something big:)
I’m outgoing and love to organise so became a Community Champion so I could get to know people and do things. Stitch is big in Australia where it started, and also in the States.
We want it to be equally big here, but we need YOU!!
Have to say that it has been a godsend during the Covid lockdown. I had just moved to a new town and didn’t know a soul, now I know people from Australia and the States, but not only that, I’ve met - virtually - people from Peru, Hungary, Africa and elsewhere who live in those countries!
There are groups covering all sorts of interesting topics, discussion groups that sometimes make your hair, and help when you need it.
If you’re looking for something new, fun and here in the UK, come check us out and expand your circle.

My Stitch Experience - Dorette Headley

I actually signed up with Stitch in November 2918. I did nothing until August 25, 2020 when I decided to visit the website and there has been no turning back. It is an understatement for me to say I am having an enjoyable experience on Stitch. It has become my “go to” place to stop for so much fun as well as serious workshops presented by a facility in Australia which deal with aspects of mental health (particularly as to how this malady can affect the aging).

I have been able to “attend” various activities hosted by members at different times of the day. Participation leads to the forming friendships which are very real with persons I meet at theses events. As I speak about the activities, it should be noted that Stitch has been very creative and innovative during this time of the global pandemic in making available the ability to attend these activities virtually via Zoom, a Video Chat and Skype.

I have only positives to say about my newly-found relationship with Stitch.

Spiritruth ,

I have been a member of Stitch for over five years.

I’ve been a member of Stitch for over five years, and I’ve gotten a lot out of it. I’ve met some lovely people. And before the coronavirus hit, I went to many gatherings in person, comedy clubs, for meals, and other gatherings. Since the coronavirus, the community is still quite vibrant. Only now, that vibrancy expresses itself in many zoom meetings. There are some people who are getting together for walks outside with social distancing. All in all I think it’s a fabulous community. I have met Andrew many times. Andrew is the man who started Stitch, and he is a fine person. I started as a free member, but I have been a paying member for several years, and I feel it’s very much worth it.

Developer Response ,

Hi Spiritruth, thanks for such a positive and encouraging note -- with a personal compliment as a bonus! Love having you in the community too, and seeing it gradually grow as we keep working towards our vision of a connected community for everyone. Hope we've got many more years of fun still to come!
