Started ok, but...

I joined Stitch 2 years ago. Found it on advertising in my Facebook page. Met a few people from my area and some not so close, made some friends. Even had the pleasure to meet the founder, Andrew during a trip to Australia. Lovely gentleman. Unfortunately had to deactivate my membership. Not worth it anymore. No advertising in my area, resulting in no members or activities. All my local friends left Stitch after the first year. Great concept but no way to keep it going globally. If they ever become popular in my area I would rejoin.

Thanks for the nice personal note! Sorry to hear Stitch hasn't grown in your area yet, but it's a shame for you to deactivate given the changes that are currently taking place in the community to help it grow in new areas. I'd encourage you to reach out to us so we can let you know about the progress and plans for the community in your area. Have you heard about our new free Associate Membership plan, for example? If you did, you might reconsider deactivating your account :).

(As a side note, giving the community a 2-star review actively discourages new members from joining, which makes it even harder to grow the membership in your area -- or any other area for that matter. That in turn has a negative impact on all our members. Hopefully you saw enough of the positives of the community when you visited Australia to see that such a negative rating doesn't necessarily characterize what Stitch is like in all areas. If so, it would be great if you could update your review to make that clear!)

BIG your money.

I debated whether to pay the expense membership fee for a couple of days but ultimately decided it would be worth it to meet people my age who have been "verified". But was I mistaken. There are very few people located in my area nor are there any activities close enough to join for socializing. And to add to my disappointment, after submitting my email address for membership I immediately started getting spam, several email messages a day now. I'm certain it's from the membership application process and highly recommend NOT joining!!!

So sorry to hear you've been disappointed with your experiences with the community so far. It is true that we don't have active communities in all locations yet, which is why we promote the app as being primarily for existing members. If you send us an email to I'll ask the team to help sort you out.

Your comment about spam emails is something we'd like to follow up too, as we most definitely do not provide our member's email addresses to any third party. If you're referring to emails you get from the Stitch system we can advise how to turn them off, but if you are getting spam emails more generally we'd be happy to advise you on what could be causing them.

Stitch is renowned for taking safety and security more seriously than pretty much any other site, and we often help out our members (many of whom aren't always sure how best to protect themselves online) so we would be happy to assist.

Seems like the typical dating racists and monogamists out there.
Oh and I started getting loads of spam since if dined up too.

I can’t really blame the app entirely. For that but I am generally not impressed with what you get with the free non-subscription.

Sorry but NOTHING is enticing me to want to subscribe. 😟

Hope your user base in NYC grows some day.

Hi Dancing2myowndrum, sorry to hear you got the impression Stitch is like any other dating site out there, we really don't think that's the case! Stitch is based on a community concept where members create events and activities for other members, and find ways to get to know each other beyond just the traditional online dating model (which we think is seriously broken).
Our community in NYC isn't as active as we would like it to be just yet, but we are getting there ... so even if you're on a free membership you'll be able to come to some Stitch events in the coming months.
As for your comment about spam, are you referring to emails from the Stitch system itself, or other emails? If they are from Stitch, you can manage your emails from the notifications settings page in Stitch.
If you're referring to real spam emails, however, then they won't be related to Stitch ... we actually are the leading online community when it comes to safety and security, and never provide member email addresses to any other parties.
