Step inside the living monument with the Stonewall Forever AR app.
Visitors to the Stonewall National Monument in NYC’s Christopher Park can experience the monument in augmented reality; exploring the past, present and future of Pride in the very place where Pride began.
Can't make it to NYC? Download the app anywhere to bring Stonewall Forever and the Stonewall National Monument to you.
To use:
- In NYC's Christopher Park: Scan markers surrounding or in the center of the Park to witness the living monument come to life
- Anywhere else: Scan your surrounding area and place a marker on the ground to reveal the park and monument before your eyes
- Click on particles to reveal images and videos
- Click "Share your Story" to add your piece of history
Permissions note:
- Location: Needed to trigger the correct experience
- Camera: Needed to scan & place the markers
- Photos/Media/Files: Needed to upload your story to the monument
- Email: Needed for moderating content submissions

Could be better
I love that we're given this for a virtual learning opportunity, but it would be better if I could actually view the videos. They won't play for me. I don't know if this is a bug or not but please fix it soon.
Dependent on missing(?) signage
Disappointed with this app. Downloaded when I was at Christopher St. App asked me to scan a sign at the entrance to a park. Scanned every single sign, and the AR/app responded to nothing. Sad it wouldn’t work.
