Out of all the crazy when I listen to Medias Touch I feel like there is hope and normalacy. I so Enjoy the brothers and Popak. I can’t wait for Monday’s to catch up on the crazy that is happening. I was a non politicalPerson before Covid, I was a sometimes voter and didn’t vote for Trump but didn’t vote for Hillary. I was that person who didn’t think my vote mattered so I just stayed home. Once Covid hit I was glued to the tv watching this “incompetent” president deal with this crisis and started consuming new and was appalled with Trump and his unwillingness to help the American people thru the pandemic. I votered for Biden and Harris, went o my first rally in hopes we could continue down this normal path and was devastated when Harris lost. NormalLost and the insane convinced too many people to vote against themselves. I feel there are tons of people that are uninformed about this out of control president who is taking our country down a dark path. We need to get our youth involved in politics and critical thinking. Fox News should have to put a note at the bottom of the tv screen that they are an opinion show and not fact based because lots of people don’t realize that….News should not be in their name. I hope this is a wake up call and we can stop this train coming and change the direction of where we are headed . God Bless America. Thank you Medias Touch! .

It is so refreshing to read articles that are help me make sense of all of the reading rhetoric and posturing. I have worked in school districts that are so misguided in the way that they teach reading and have not understood why I teach the way I do, using a more linguistic phonics approach. I have felt so validated by what I have read by these researchers and have even gained knowledge of how I can tweek my practice to better serve my students. I appreciate all the insights from these researchers that have been delving into the reading research or doing reading research and reading all of the books that people have written all claiming to be “the way that reading SHOULD be taught.” All of these authors so righteous in their claims and almost demeaning to those who don’t follow their practice. Truthfully every child I see ( all tier 3 and many ELL’s) do not fit into one single reading prescription. It is too bad however that schools feel the need to stand by these prescriptions and teach them with “fidelity” when these programs are actually holding many of the students back( only teaching short vowels for way too long). Teaching/ learning reading is a much more dynamic process than these programs afford. These Substack posts help guide my teaching to think outside of these proverbial prescriptive program “boxes” and truly understand the SOR.

I have learned so much from reading the comments about how our current system of government is supposed to work for the people and how we are now in a crisis of the destruction of our freedom of speech by the fascist president and every Republican in Congress who has pledged allegiance will ppand loyalty to President trump! I don’t think we have any freedom of speech now but I see that there are millions of brave Americans who defying the orders of the government continue to write the truth about what is happening and how to stop the oppression and violence against civilians that is being deliberately inflicted by ICE agents ordered by the trump administration officials to kidnap and imprison and deport prisoners who they say are illegal immigrants who are criminals and have designated homelessness to be illegal criminals who will be imprisoned for being poor! I applaud all of you for continuing to write about these people and how they are treated because you have the heart of character to speak up and writing about the truth even though they have threatened all with jail time for writing truthfully about America today! Keep up the good fight guys we will see them out of our government and deported to country where they belong! Russia! I am proud of you and I encourage everyone to continue supporting the democratic movement we will redefine and strengthen our democracy with the suggestions of all of you who will help to bring our democracy back from hell!! The author has successfully demonstrated the ability to reach everyone without the need to use any adjectives or words to convey the intended audience. The writer is clearly determined to make the message non threatening or offensive and has achieved this goal. By making use of his ability to use language to make it appear as if everyone who reads it has the sense it is a personal request for them due to their own unique experience. He accomplishes this with the use of simple words & concepts portrayed as facts. In doing so, he avoids any potential for argument or debate. Quite the contrary, he has been able to achieve the daunting task of uniting his readers and without any warning or threats, engages all readers in the commitment to create change. I could be way off with his goal or interpretation of the desired outcome, and I probably am. In any event, it definitely invokes this urgency of an undeniable truth that we all need to accept responsibility if we want to avoid the inevitable demise of our country. Again, I have the unfortunate knack of reading things into a statement or book that have absolutely nothing to do with what the author had in mind. 🙄🙄🙄🙄Either way, I found it to be written in an engaging manner without any need to capture the attention of the reader. It’s presented as a simple and straightforward way that for me, hooks readers into a desire to keep reading and leaves them trusting the author and the information discussed. As a “wordy” writer who often loses the audience in either written or spoken language. It’s a challenge for me to stay on topic or perhaps to be clear about what the topic is. Any feedback is welcome and appreciated.
