    This service was really good when we started using it a long time ago. Lately though they have been delivering too late to be useful, the delivery drivers don’t mark the boxes as delivered and also don’t ring the doorbell. There have also been increasing issues with missing ingredients and recipe cards. When you contact customer service you get a boiler plate response that leaves you with the sense that they don’t really care.

  • Unreliable delivery makes the subscription unusable

    We’ve used Sunbasket for a while and like the meals themselves, but delivery reliability has become a major issue. About half of our last 10 deliveries have arrived a day late or not arrived at all.We’ve contacted customer service multiple times, but nothing has improved. For a weekly meal subscription, dependable delivery is essential — and right now, that’s not happening. Unfortunately, this makes the service difficult to justify despite otherwise good food.

    My husband and I have done 3 paleo meals a week for a couple months. Liked all but one which was ok but not fab. We are challenged to find time to cook so we have cancelled some weeks and it is easy to do so especially with the 3 text reminders. I am now going to try mixing and matching several meal plan types as my husband is more of a meat eater than I. You can choose organic meats but you will have to use the small highlighted drop down menu on the meal description which means you will have to update your choices every week (wish this could be Pre-set but there are multiple choices for meat/fish so you’d have to trust their choice —maybe they could set an auto-remember if the same meal came up again —which so far has not happened). That is a plus- new menus each month incorporating seasonal produce. We only once had unacceptable produce with a new arrival package (rotted potato and wilted greens with yellow tips). These meals are for one serving for 2 people ( in our case) and a few times we wanted more protein in the dish. Once we actually had leftovers and that was a turkey scramble with lots of veggies. That had a good mix of protein. I think we are just typical Americans used to overpacked meals and this is likely a good way to ease us into a more healthy and appropriate diet. So far so good. The meals do keep if cooked ahead. Love that packaging is easy to recycle. Now if they could just come with a chef for the week it would be nirvana!

  • Organic, creative and delicious

    We love Sun Basket! We've been ordering 3-4 meals a week for almost a year now and couldn't be happier with this service. We chose Sun Basket because they offer organic ingredients, and none of the other services we explored do. But we've also been thrilled with the huge variety of really creative, delicious meals inspired from cuisine all over the globe, the easy to follow instructions, the convenience of the phone app, and the bonus content and recipes in each week's booklet. We've learned a lot about cooking, have tried things we never otherwise would have, and have enjoyed cooking together regularly. It's also been a huge time saver -- no more deciding what to cook, making shopping lists, and having to grocery shop during our busy work week -- or getting stuck with too much of something that just ends up going bad. There are only two of us, so the portions are perfect. And we're getting a great balance of nutrients & veggies in every meal. We're big meat eaters but have also been trying a lot of the vegetarian options and loving them. There have been a handful of occasions when an ingredient was either missing or past its prime, but they've always been responsive and fast to issue us a generous credit to cover its replacement and make up for the inconvenience. Highly recommend.

  • Slipping over the years - badly now

    Fewer organic ingredients (which was their hallmark) unless you pay more, ingredients missing from kits (like noodles for a noodle dish), skimpy quantities of certain sauces (esp. chipotle yogurt for fish tacos, barely enough for one taco, small jar 1/4 full), less than fresh ingredients, very late delivery (2 days sometimes) and spoiled unusable kits with no communication, harder to get someone live in customer service, expensive. Overall, the experience has seriously degraded in the last year and it’s very disappointing. I loved them for two years, now I’ve cut way back and am considering other companies. Such a shame because they were the best, but they’ve lost their customer focus and passion for being unique and better than the competition. And the horrible clueless new rebrand digs them further into the grave - they obviously have no idea or don’t care who their customers are or what they value. It would have been a far better use of time and money to fix the delivery, service and food quality problems than make another huge mistake that will drive their loyal customers away. It was a brand that aligned nicely with the customer base a few years ago, now they’ve lost touch completely and have become a hodgepodge of trying to be all things to all people, doing nothing well and causing repeated pain and discontent to their once loyal customers. I understand that happening sometimes for the sake of growth but this is just misguided grossness.

    We tried all the different services with the different promotions and came back to Sunbasket and have been using for more than two years. They have only gotten better. We love the quality of the ingredients and the proteins fresh from the butcher. We love that they are healthy and low in carb, bad fats and sugars. The meals are delicious and easy to prepare- and I feel healthier with more energy and a clearer mind than I did before. We both work long hours and it’s just my husband and I so before we might have grabbed a pizza or Chinese- not good! The proteins are so good- I cannot even buy from our local grocery- we live in a rural area and have no Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s so this has been great- especially with the new social distancing requirements. My fave was that they added the market place and we can buy the proteins and other stuff separate from the meals. I use the sous-vide eggs and the breakfast rounds along with their cold pressed juices for healthy breakfasts. Any time we have had any issue with items damaged in shipping- or food not up to the normal standard they have quickly made it right! I hate too sound dramatic but Sunbasket boxes have changed our lifestyle!
