Here is how it works in detail:
This app detects the current status of various quality characteristics used in connection with mobile networks and you receive up-to-date information on Sunrise mobile service provision in Switzerland.
To do this, your user input, measurements from the speed and connection tests and system data are collected in anonymized form and sent to the Sunrise measuring systems.
The data and measurements received from the app are collected in a Sunrise database and used to generate anonymous statistics about the quality of the Sunrise mobile phone network. Using this app will help Sunrise develop and improve its mobile network, with a focus on customers.
Range of features: Manual or automatic feedback
You will be able to individually trigger a connection or speed test of mobile data transmission manually, and if your mobile network experience is not first-rate, you will be able to communicate very specific information to Sunrise. Alternatively, the app can be set up so that technical parameters (such as wireless network information) can be regularly and automatically recorded in the background and sent to Sunrise (data consumption less than 2 MB/month).
Data protection: guaranteed 24/7
Whether manual or automatic: all data collected through this app are processed only by Sunrise and only for the aforementioned purposes in accordance with the Swiss data protection legislation and the data protection provisions of the Sunrise general terms and conditions (www.sunrise.ch/gtc).
Other data, including localization and use data as well as technical parameters and system parameters, is also collected in addition to the measurements obtained from the active tests (speed and connection tests). Some technical parameters, such as wireless network information, are collected on a regular basis.
Specifically, the following anonymized data is sent to Sunrise, where it is processed and analyzed:
MSISDN, IMSI no., hardware model
User entries ("Network feedback" module)
Measurement data obtained from user-triggered active tests ("Speed test" module)
-Round-trip time (ping)
-Internet uptime/success rate
-System and usage parameters
-Mobile network information (cell ID, signal strength)
-Information on the end user hardware, such as model or operating system
-Localization information, such as latitude and longitude
-Time information, such as measurement timestamps
Some of the data transmitted by the app are personal and may be used to identify you.
No connection costs for sunrise costumers
The app's data traffic is free for Sunrise postpaid and prepaid customers. For Sunrise mobile subscriptions with included data volumes, the app's data usage is not counted toward the available volume.
