Wow - please dont give up on this app.
I am a primary iOS musician and considering i have used and paid for TONS of apps I want you to know that this app is very very very capable of being up there with the greats. Do NOT give up on this app. Even if it means In-App purchases or selling it to someone who has time.
This just works. It does need a way to judge the keys you are playing, but if that never happens i would still use it. Dont forget this app!
Interesting, but flawed
As a musician, I wanted to try this app out. After all, it's free, looks pretty slick, and seems kind of fun. And, to be fair, this app features a nifty interface, a few nice sounds to work with, and offers some cool visual effects.
But, as an instrument, this is a tough one utilize. For one, the grid to play the sounds with is hidden until you play a note. Now, it does look cool to see the visual splash, but without a grid overlay or some indication of what square you'll be touching, it's easy for a finger to slip away from the square you're working with and go to a totally different sound on an adjacent square.
This wouldn't be a big issue except that you can't see what the grid/note overlay is until you're already playing a sound. Imagine playing a piano without being able to see the keys until you play a note. Playing with this app offers that kind of experience except that this instrument/app isn't something standard like a piano keyboard. So you're more or less taking shots in the dark to see what will play.
Plus, maybe it's just my hardware, but on an iPad 2, when I would try and make a beat on tempo to the click track, it would slow down and my beat would be off time. I think it's a processing issue (so it may not be an issue with the app), but I can't recommend this if I can't get my own tablet to run this app without that slow down.
That said, I give this 3 stars for the vision and idea behind the app, but the implementation feels off.
So cool, and so sad...
Man,they were on to something with this app. If they would have kept developing it, it could have been up there with apps like Figure.
Oh well, another cool app for the graveyard... 😕
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
