A Swellcast is a micro-podcast with social features. Every post on Swell is up to 5 minutes of audio and can include photos and links. All responses are also in audio and grow the conversation. There is no scheduling needed, you can post anytime, listen anytime and reply anytime.

Your Swellcast is available online at www.swellcast.com/username where people can listen to you without having to download the app. Swellcasts can also be embedded on websites and blogs, and easily shared on other social platforms.

Use your Swellcast to voice your opinions, share your knowledge, interview people, discuss the news, or simply talk. Invite people to your conversations, and join conversations started by other users.

Whether you are an experienced podcaster or speaking publicly for the first time, you will find a warm and welcoming audio community on Swell that will encourage you and engage with your conversations.

There is no scheduling needed to start a conversation or listen to one. There are no invitations required to join a conversation. You don’t have to miss out on great conversations because they already happened. You can listen, post and reply to any conversation at any time. Today, tomorrow, or next week.

From mental health and spirituality to sports and politics, tune into your community by listening to audio stations on various topics and interests. Discover trending conversations and top speakers. Start your own conversation in any station.

Share your conversations on any website or social platform. All users get their own public Swellcast page at www.swellcast.com/yourusername, and each conversation can be shared via a link or by exporting a 30 second video clip.

Add your Swell conversations on your own website or blog by using two lines of simple HTML embed code. Learn more at https://developers.swellcast.com/

Create invitation-only Groups for your co-workers, family, friends, or people who share your interests. Posts in Groups are private and only available to invited members.

Just because it is audio does not mean you have to set aside a lot of time to listen to everything. The “text snippets” feature uses speech to text technology (for English language content) to show short pieces of relevant text from the audio content, making it easy to browse and quickly discover interesting voices and replies in a long audio conversation. Quickly catch-up to what people are talking about on Swell without having to listen to every conversation and reply.

A Game Changer

I’ve been using Swell for about a week now, and I absolutely love it. It honestly is a better content format than many of the other social media platforms. Instead of consuming photo and video all day, you get to enter into healthy dialogue and use your voice. This will assist in building a robust and interactive community. I always feel better when I leave the app, and that’s huge. Thanks to the Swell Team for this amazing app.

This app is uplifting!

I am loving Swell! I prefer talking over typing, and usually send voice messages to friends. As I have gotten friends to download this app, now I get to hear their voices too! My college roommates all connected with me on Swell and I LOVE hearing their voices instead of just reading texts. I am hoping to begin a book club soon on Swell and I can’t wait!

I set my preferred subjects and the app’s “For you” feed still includes all topics, and there is no way to turn off the editor’s picks. I want *zero* political or COVID content, yet am bombarded by it. That is unacceptable and why I use the News Feed Eradicator app on my FB and Twitter accounts.

I don’t like the UI/UX. It feels clunky. I also hate the 15 character limit on usernames because I need 16.

Basically, Swell seems a lot like the Stereo live talk radio app except more like Twitter than FB and therefore not as deep... not that I love Stereo either. Rather, I love the *idea* of Swell and Stereo, just not the execution. And the user base on both are so small, it’s like shouting into the void.
