Description

Swift Mail for JMAP is a native macOS app bringing the speed, efficiency, and features of a modern mail standard to the Mac with an interface that feels at home on your desktop.

As a dedicated JMAP client, Swift Mail provides true support for powerful Fastmail features including multiple sending identities, wildcard (*) aliases such as *@yourdomain.com for sending or responding to emails with custom addresses on the fly, and the ability to seamlessly & instantly switch between label and folder organization modes.

As a native desktop client, Swift Mail adds first class support for system level features such as notifications, dark mode, quicklook, keyboard shortcuts, and customizable toolbars.

Swift Mail joins these powerful features together untethered from the overhead of a general purpose IMAP client or web browser and its trackers to deliver a truly private, fast and efficient JMAP email client with a small footprint.

Note:

Swift Mail does not provide email service and is not affiliated with any email service providers. The Swift Mail client and website do not include any form of user or email account creation services. The client makes a direct connection to the JMAP server given the provided user email and password, and all data is processed and stored locally on the user device. Swift Mail does not connect to third-party services, collect tracking data, or store user account credentials.

Swift Mail implements the open source JMAP standard with initial support for Fastmail with plans to add support for custom JMAP servers in the future.

What’s New

Version 1.0.5 (80)

New

Added support for per-mailbox default sending addresses for new messages.
The 'From’ field is now set to the alias designated as the default sending address for the currently selected mailbox in the sidebar when launching the compose editor window.
See guide.swiftmail.io for additional details.

Fixed

* Fixed a status action regression causing updates to a thread’s read or flagged status to be applied to an earlier message (within the same thread conversation) after relaunch for recently updated thread conversations.
* Fixed an issue causing a new message to not appear until relaunch in mailboxes with an empty message list.
* Fixed an issue causing a message to not appear in the destination mailbox when moving to a folder or applying a label with an empty message list.
* Fixed an issue preventing restoration of a mailbox's message selection on relaunch after replying or forwarding a message.
* Fixed an issue causing the thread view (3rd split view) to continue showing the last selected message in a mailbox when a move or label action results in an empty message list.
* Fixed a rare instance where an update to the read status of a message could be delayed in the UI.

Improved

* Improved the performance of cache-related operations on launch.

Shouldn't be charging a subscription yet

This app has promise but its basically early alpha at best. It doesn't function very well. No assets are loaded in emails, no reply button, doesn't refresh automatically. Basically useless and it shouldn't be charging any subscription for alpha testers to test their product for them. Highly recommend you don't bother for a while until they hopefully fix this.

wanted to like it

Really wanted to like it since I'm a fan of mimestream but recently switched to using fastmail. I think the pricing is fine but please make the basic stuff like having emails show up / render promptly a priority. Looking forward to giving it another try once the basics are fixed.

Excited for the future of the app, but it is not even close to be there yet

1. Subscription model...

2. New mails don't appear in the folders, unless you restart the app

3. No images are showed in the mail bodies.

4. No reply button, only compose new message.

And that list can go on. This is basically a very early alpha version of the app at this point.
