Description

Synalyze It! is a simple to use Mac OS X app which lets you easily edit and analyze binary files of any size. It's the little brother of Synalyze It! Pro but still much more than a regular hex editor.

Synalyze It! features enhanced support for many character encodings and it will allow you to interactively define "grammars" for various file formats. Several grammars do already exist and can be downloaded for free. Files are decoded automatically using grammars!

Synalyze It! is perfect for editing saved games or other unknown binary file formats and actively supports reverse engineering.

Here are some key features of Synalyze It!:
* Hex Editor & Viewer (change, insert and delete quickly in files of unlimited size)
* Printing
* Histogram view
* Go to Position in file
* Save selected bytes
* Compare code pages
* Incremental text search with encoding selection
* Find text
* Find numbers
* Search for masks
* See all strings in a file

Please Support Apple Silicon!

The app crushes suddenly on an M1 pro MBP...

Developer Response ,

Thank you for the feedback. The new version (1.26) supports Apple Silicon natively and no longer depends on Python 2, please update.

@Road Warrior ,

Glad I bought it!

I spent a long day trying to parse a binary data file to write a custom I/O library, many hours counting bytes on a hex dump to reverse engineer the file layout. Found and bought this little gem and the problem was solved in about twenty minutes, coded up and working in a coupe of hours. The file type was even in the included grammers!! Haven't used many of its features yet but everything I have done has worked flawlessly. Glad to have this in my bag 'o tricks!

Developer Response ,

Thank you for the feedback! This app was developed exactly for reverse engineering tasks on binary level like the one you performed.

Instant disappointment

Only renders ASCII until you define a grammar. If you are spelunking into a completely unknown format and want to quickly see what a particular byte sequence is in decimal as you dig, you're outta luck. Given this rather egregious limitation I sincerely have no idea who the target audience for this application is even meant to be.
