SynergyXR
The no-code XR platform
Free
SynergyXR gives users a DIY XR toolbox that lets them easily create their own VR meeting space and add a wide range of interactive content like 3D models, PDF documents, images, and even videos.
Users can interact with the content manager to drop content anywhere in the space. Users can also resize, place and interact with content, including playing videos and writing on virtual whiteboards. Even better, you can step inside 3D models to get a fully immersive experience.
more Time limited access for Viewers
* With the introduction of the Training Catalogue the user experience for Guest users was not the best and we have decided to remove Guest users. Instead, it is now possible to add a time limit to Workspace access for users with the Viewer role.
Content processing pipeline improvements
* We have made a major upgrade to the SynergyXR content processing pipeline, including support for KTX texture compression and Draco Mesh compression.
Removed “Beacons” from SynergyXR
* Beacons have been removed as they saw little use and better alternatives are available.
Removed “Share extension” from SynergyXR for iOS
* We remove the “Share extension” of the SynergyXR iOS application, that used to allow users to easily share content and directly upload it to a SynergyXR Workspace.
* The SynergyXR Manager now runs so well on mobile – it is a better user experience than using the share extension. This also ensures that all content is processed the same and optimized using the latest and greatest additions to the content processing pipeline as described above.
Removed “Textured scans” from SynergyXR for iOS
* The ability to make a textured 3D scan was a great idea, but rarely used, and to be honest we were not completely happy with the quality.
* To reduce complexity in the user flow, we have chosen to remove this feature from SynergyXR.
* We advise you to instead use scanner applications like Scaniverse or Polycam to create 3D scans of your physical surroundings and import these as content in SynergyXR.
3.5.0 Mar 23
Fixed bug when skipping or otherwise stopping procedure playback while question was visible.
Version 3.4.0:
New Operation: Question
- In procedures we now support a new operation, the question operation. This allows the trainee to be evaluated on specific knowledge during the procedure.
New Action: Move users
- In procedures we now support a new operation, the move user operation. This allows the users to be moved around the space during the procedure without having to navigate the space themselves.
Fade when skipping Steps in a Procedure
- Every time a user skips a Step or fast-forwards to a particular Step the user’s view is briefly faded to black – the same experience when the Move users Actions is executed.
Scenarios discontinued:
- At SynergyXR, we continuously evolve the platform by introducing new features that better meet the needs of our users. As part of this process, certain features become redundant when replaced by more powerful alternatives. This is the case for Scenarios, which are now fully covered (and improved upon) by Procedures.
3.4.2 12/11/2025

3.1.0 02/17/2025
• SynergyXR should now better respect proxy settings on corporate networks
• Various bug fixes
New in version 3.0.0:
Procedures
• The “Reset” button on the Procedure Panel, now takes the user all the way back to the start procedure screen where the language can be selected.
UI re-work
• The entire UI has been re-built using a lighter more vibrant color scheme better matching the visual identity of SynergyXR.
• All UI elements are aligned in look and feel.
• All icons have been updated to more clearly convey what buttons does.
• The app icons has also been updated to being a black logo on a white background to match the general visual identity.
AR spatial persistence
• The existing AR spatial persistence technology we used in 2.8.1 and earlier (Azure Spatial Anchors) will unfortunately reach its end-of-life November 2024.
• In SynergyXR 3.0 we introduce a new underlying technology – Apple’s AR World Maps.
• Unfortunately, there is no migration path from existing AR Spaces made in SynergyXR 2.8.1 and earlier, so users will have to re-create their AR Spaces in SynergyXR 3.0.
• Users will still be able to load existing AR Spaces and view these in virtual mode.
• Users should expect slightly faster start-up and recognition speed, as well as recognition accuracy.
• It is now possible to dynamically extend the size of the AR Space – even after saving it.
• Hence, we merged the “Quick AR” and “Large AR” since there was no material difference between the functionality any more.
Various minor improvements
• On application start-up we provide users with an error page summarizing any mandatory online services that are currently not accessible. This is done to provide better and more concise information to the user as soon as possible.
• All audio sources (built into the Environment and any video auto-playing) is muted until the user has fully entered the Space. This is done to avoid audio playing during loading of Spaces.

• Users can choose between 3 different tools: Vertical, Horizontal and Free-form
• It is possible to change the measurement between metric and imperial units from the wrist menu
• Users can adjust the measurement
Large-Scale AR
• Users can now create a new type of Large AR space
• From the main menu, users can select “New AR” and from there choose between:
• Quick AR: small in-situ AR space
• Scan AR: medium sized space creating a digital copy of the copy of the surroundings
• Large AR: large AR experience
• When loading a Large AR Space on an AR-capable device, the users is automatically started in AR-mode and is being asked to align with the anchoring data available
Environment Audio Control
• When creating a custom Environment using the SynergyXR Environment Tool it is possible to integrate audio sources in the Environment
• Users can now control the volume of these audio sources
• All audio sources are scaled between 0% (muted) and 100% (original volume) maintaining the relative volume differences originally set in the Environment
Procedure Events
• We introduce “Events” in our Procedures system. Events can be used to model errors in Procedures, or allow users to interact with parts of the Environment not critical to the main Procedure
• Several events can be active at once, allowing the user to perform multiple events in parallel with the main Procedure
• An event can be tagged as being an “error”
Procedure improvements
• It is now possible to perform a “Two-hand assembly” allowing users to e.g. pick up an electrical screwdriver with one hand and attaching a battery using the other hand
• We now store the Procedure state in the Space. The Procedure Panel visibility state is also saved, allowing users e.g., to start a Procedure – hide the panel – and save the Space
2.8.0 05/06/2024
• Ensure correct use of TCP for multiuser network communication.
• Fixed issue where application hangs shortly after starting a 3D drawing.

• More than 60 million combinations not counting hair color and skin tones
Avatar Personal Protection Equipment
• Users can now add safety equipment to their avatar during a Session
• The Equipment menu can be accessed from the menu, under “User” in the “Equipment” sub-menu
• Users can select between different options of “Personal Protection Equipment” (PPE)
• It is possible to integrate the use of PPE in Procedures
Active Object Menu
• In previous versions, when selecting an object in the Session a small menu appeared in the top-right corner of the bounding box encircling the object – this is called the “Active Object Menu”
• We have completely reworked the Active Object Menu
• The menu now appears in the bottom-middle of the screen for easy access
2.7.0 01/26/2024
Scenario improvements
• The wrist menu UI has been overhauled to better segment scenarios and normal content.
- The global scenario state is gone.
- Instead, users can now add content to the space, while a scenario is active in edit mode.
- Adding steps to scenarios is now done from the scenario’s submenu.
• Saving a Space also saves changes to any open scenario.
• Loading a Space that was saved with an open scenario, will also automatically load the scenario.
• Entering spaces with open scenarios starts the scenario from the first step in the scenario sequence.
• When loading a scenario, all steps are automatically locked, to ensure users do not move steps around.
• The list of scenarios available in a Space has seen minor improvements, allowing users to delete scenarios from the Space.
Internet browser audio
• It is, unfortunately, not possible to stream the audio in internet browsers to all users to ensure they hear the same.
• Until now, the internet browser audio has been muted on PC and Mac, to ensure that all users get the same experience.
• We have now changed this - audio for internet browser content has been enabled locally on all platforms – it is still not streamed to other users participating in the session, but users currently controlling the browser can hear the audio.

-----------
Version 2.4.0
Save object state in Space
* When saving a Space, all individual states of the objects are also saved
New controls for content (video + animation)
* Including volume and mute control for video objects
Content list
* Authors can bring up a list of all content currently in the Space
* Authors can delete content directly from this list
* For 3D objects, these can be made static – read more below
Static 3D objects – make objects part of the environment
* Other objects can easily be placed on top of these environment models through physics-based collisions
* This will effectively remove all interaction options with the object. E.g., the scan will be a static part of the environment
Space suggestion - select a space to always suggest to individual users
* An admin can select a specific Space that a selected user should be suggested to enter
Featured Spaces
* By selecting a saved Space, and clicking the star-outline, the Space is featured for all users of the particular Workspace
* Featured Spaces are automatically placed in a separate category on top of the list of “Saved Spaces”
iOS to iOS video streaming
* When an iOS user is in “virtual mode” he/she can request to start a video stream from an iOS user in “augmented mode”
Content interaction
* When selecting an object in the environment, a gizmo is shown indicating the interaction possibilities
* Using the gizmo, the user can move the object around in the environment and rotate the object around its vertical axis

2.4.0 05/15/2023
With the latest update to SynergyXR for iOS, on-site technicians can grab an iOS device with LiDAR sensor and create a photorealistic scan of a technical installation that is spatially anchored to the real world. This enables true next generation remote support and troubleshooting, allowing experts to join through PC or VR to appear as virtual avatars right next to the on-site technician who made the scan literally minutes ago.
2.3.0 02/13/2023
Fixed issue with the "Unlock all" feature
Fixed issue with joining Demos
2.2.4 10/14/2022
Time limited access for Viewers
