  • Longtime fan super happy to see it on vision

    Origami Papercut

As a longtime fan of the game from the quest, I was super happy to see that it was available on arcade. I thought I might play it for a couple of songs but instead ended up playing for hours. And then turned it back on again the next day. It looks stunning on the vision. The hand tracking has worked great for me, loving every second of it. There are plenty of songs already and luckily some of my favorites, but as always, can’t wait for more music. Fantastic job. Thanks!

  • Stick with easier songs or wait to play for now. Try on other platforms!

I love Synth Riders on my Valve Index and I was really happy to see this on the Vision Pro, since it would make it that much more portable. However, on several Hard songs the game lags significantly, leading to dropped frames, and my hands are losing tracking, especially on tracks that have a lot of notes flying at you at once. This leads to dropped notes when the game isn't keeping up with where my hands actually are and is pretty frustrating at harder difficulties. In addition, every single one of the dropdown elements in Settings are broken (they open and close but don't display any other options) and I can't actually use them. Why leave those as dropdowns if there's only one option? If it isn't ready to be used yet, keep them disabled or something.I would wait until this game is more optimized to get a proper experience playing it, or until Apple has hardware controller support so your movements are tracked properly in-game. I'd definitely recommend checking this out on other platforms if you have the ability though. Synth Riders is way more active and fun for me to play compared to other VR rhythm games!

  • Great game but could use some improvements!

    P8nt4lyfe

Absolutely love this game and recommend it to everyone trying the AVP. I am frustrated with the performance on Hard difficulty, stutters and freezes are common. On medium its absolutely fantastic! Ideally I’d love to see Hard mode optimized correctly and I’d like to see the higher difficulties come back from the Steam VR version. I’d also like there to be a fitness mode more focused on squatting a dodging…the hand tracking is a little laggy but the head movement (the input used for moving and dodging is tight) Maybe keep the hand movements on Hard or Medium difficulty while upping the amount of walls you have to move around. Could be the #1 fitness game on AVP with that mode…just a thought. Thanks for a great port and I look forward to upgrading my review to 5 stars once those Hard difficulty performance improvements are released. Ride on!

  • Something new, inspired by beat saber

    Zupplemental

At first, I was comparing this game to beat saber. But in the more I played it the more I realize it’s kind of its own approach. it could use some more songs. But the UI, for choosing genres and settings is much better than beat saber. the flow of objects and vibe is also really slick. I am a big fan of this game and I can see it getting even better with some improvements overtime. If the game doesn’t work for you initially, delete and reinstall, and make sure you enable hand tracking.

  • Great game but a little buggy

    StephenBrannen

This is one of the few games I’ve returned to over and over since getting my Vision Pro. It’s a blast to play, and I haven’t had any of the issues with dropped frames that some users have reported. but, I have noticed some issues with the audio.During my most recent session, there was no audio coming out of the left speaker in my headset. I have also experienced issues where there was no audio at all , and I had to force, quit the app to resolve this issue. These audio issues have also occurred while wearing headphones. This app would easily be five stars, if not for the audio bugs.

  • Swing and a miss

    Sean Cier

Waiting to see what the first Beat Saber clone will be that captures the magic of that game. This is a good try and a very faithful clone, but a wide miss. And the reason is so very simple: you can’t see both your hands and the incoming stream at the same time, so you get no feedback on how you’re doing. Beat Saber fixes this with, well, the sabers: you can see the tips of your sword because it’s out in front of your. Helps that it’s decoupled from your physical body, so can be even further forward. I’m not saying this game needs to clone the swords too, just that they need to find *some* way to solve that problem, or it’s like playing a video game with your eyes closed, which just isn’t fun.

  • I love this game- needs more “popular” songs

    CxDragon7

This game is fun to play and is almosttttt as good as beat saber if you’re looking for an alternative on the vp. I think it would be as good or perhaps better with the addition of different backgrounds and with more popular songs/artists. The included songs are fun, but I LOVED the Humble experience and am excited to play more songs like these with custom backdrops. I think with more experiences available it would elevate synth riders significantly.

  • One channel of audio missing from Time-to-Time

    mofobutcher

Often times when I launch the game, one channel of audio is missing. If I reboot the entire AVP, the audio issue usually goes away. But sometimes (most times??) if I close out the game and come back to it later, the audio is missing in one channel or the other. Also, this may have been fixed in the latest versions, but previously the game would not work properly after a resume. For example, the floating balls would be stuck.Otherwise, an interesting game. Just too buggy like other AVP apps.

    Developer Response

Thank you so much for your review! The issues of suspending and reopening the game and the audio have been fixed as of version 1.0.3. We hope you've been able to update and enjoy a better experience in Synth Riders, and look forward to hearing your experiences in an updated review!

  • Needs faster hand tracking

    Trash kan

The game was somewhat playable on easy and normal difficulties, but was horribly unplayable on hard difficulty. A lot of the maps require you to move your hands really quick and the Apple vision Pro’s hand tracking is just not set up for that. A lot of the times it lags and skips. I heard visionOS 2 improves the hand tracking, but it seems that the app is not updated for that yet so it’s still the super laggy and glitchy hand tracking from visionOS 1. There’s also a lot of performance issues, especially on the yellow sections where you have to combine both your hands and hit the notes.

  • Love it, until I dont

    Noah62

I absolutely love the gameplay in this and the overall concept. However, I have been experiencing a lot of dropped frames while playing as well as my hands losing tracking in the middle of a song. Cannot wait for it to get better over time, but definitely needs work right now. It also makes the fans spin up immediately, which dries out my eyes as the fans draw air through the Vision Pro
